Gerald Hill (cricketer)
Gerald Hill (15 April 1913 – 31 January 2006) was an English first-class cricketer who played for Hampshire from 1932 to 1954. A right-handed batsman and right-arm off break bowler, Hill played 371 first-class games for Hampshire. Hill was spotted by the cricketer and writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Doyle was playing golf with Hill's father when he spotted the young Hill playing on an adjoining pitch. Doyle then wrote to Colonel J. G. Greig, Hampshire's secretary, to arrange a trial. In 1935, Hill was hit for 32 in an over by Glamorgan's Cyril Smart (6, 6, 4, 6, 6, 4), then the most expensive six-ball over in first-class history. In 1937, during a County Championship match played against Sussex at the United Services Recreation Ground, Hill and Donald Walker put on 235 for the 5th wicket, which remains to this day a Hampshire record. Gerald Hill (politician)
Gerald Irvine Hill (February 1, 1919 – February 22, 1997) was an insurance company executive and politician in Newfoundland. He represented Labrador South from 1962 to 1971 in the Newfoundland House of Assembly. The son of Captain Sidney and Sophie Hill, he was born in Wesleyville and was educated at Prince of Wales College and Acadia University. He joined Confederation Life in 1942; in 1961, he became manager for the Newfoundland division. He was elected to the Newfoundland assembly by acclamation in a 1962 by-election held following the death of George Sellars. Gerald (Rusty) J. Hills, II is an American politician and educator in the state of Michigan and was formerly the senior advisor to former Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette. Rusty Hills also serves as Chancellor and Founder of Holy Spirits Institute, a non-profit educational venture. His goal is to establish a quality, four-year liberal arts Catholic college, located in the Greater Lansing area. The first class began in the fall of 2005. Prior to beginning the college, Hills spent almost two decades in public service and politics. He was twice elected unanimously to serve as Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. Viscount Hill
Viscount Hill, of Hawkstone and of Hardwicke in the County of Salop, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1842 for General Rowland Hill. He had already been created Baron Hill, of Almaraz and of Hawkstone in the County of Salop, in 1814, with remainder to the heirs male of his body, and Baron Hill, of Almarez and of Hawkestone and Hardwicke in the County of Salop, in 1816, with remainder to the heirs male of his elder brother John Hill. The viscountcy was created with the same special remainder. On the first Viscount's death in 1842, the barony of 1814 became extinct as he had no male issue, while he was succeeded in the barony of 1816 and the Viscountcy according to the special remainders by his nephew Sir Rowland Hill, 4th Baronet.
