Senior Counsel
The title of Senior Counsel or State Counsel (post-nominal letters: SC) is given to a senior lawyer in some countries that were formerly part of the British Empire. "Senior Counsel" is used in current or former Commonwealth countries or jurisdictions that have chosen to change the title "King's Counsel" to a name without monarchical connotations, usually related to the British monarch that is no longer head of state, such that reference to the King is no longer appropriate. George Munnik
George Glaeser Anderson Munnik QC (8 November 1921 – 30 March 2004) was a South African judge, Chief Justice of the Transkei High Court and Judge President of the Cape Provincial Division of the Supreme Court from 1981 until 1991. Early life and education Munnik was born in Dordrecht in the Cape Province and after receiving his initial education in Dordrecht, finished his schooling at SACS. He studied law at the University of Cape Town and graduated with the degrees B.A. and LL.B. Career Munnik began practicing as an advocate at the Johannesburg Bar in 1946 and in 1958 became Queen's counsel. He received his first acting appointment as a judge during 1960 at the Transvaal Provincial Division. Edwin King
Edwin Leslie King SC (25 September 1929 – 28 May 2015) known as 'Sharkey', was a judge of the High Court of South Africa and Judge President of the Western Cape High Court. Early life and education King was born in London on 25 September 1929 and immigrated to South Africa as a young child. He was educated at Western Province Preparatory School where he started as a boarder in 1936, aged six and in 1943 he went on to St. Andrew's College in Grahamstown. In law, the bar is the legal profession as an institution. The term is a metonym for the line (or "bar") that separates the parts of a courtroom reserved for spectators and those reserved for participants in a trial such as lawyers. Amy Biehl
Amy Elizabeth Biehl (April 26, 1967 – August 25, 1993) was a Fulbright Scholar and American graduate of Stanford University and an anti-Apartheid activist in South Africa who was murdered by Cape Town residents while a black mob shouted anti-white slurs.
