Georgina Jiménez De López
Georgina Isabel Jiménez de López (15 February 19041994) was a Panamanian sociologist, writer, professor, researcher, feminist, and human rights activist. She was the first female Professor of Sociology in Panama. Biography Georgina Isabel Jiménez de López was born to parents Paula Rivera Urriola and Antonio Jiménez in Panama City on 15 February 1904, but grew up in Chiriquí. After graduating as a teacher from the normal school of Institutoras in 1922, Jiménez found work at several Panamanian educational institutions and continued to pursue her education. In 1932, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in science from New York University. While working towards a master's degree and then doctorate in political science from Columbia University, Jiménez made income translating and teaching Spanish and lecturing at Panamanian schools and women's clubs. Ofelia Hooper
Ofelia Hooper Polo (13 November 1900, in Las Minas, Herrera, Las Minas, Panama – 23 September 1981) was a Panamanian sociologist, poet, professor, researcher, and civil rights activist. She was the daughter of Maurice Hooper and Olimpia Polo Valdés. She worked at several print media in Panama, including ''La Antena'' (1931) and the ''Frontera'' (1937); she also edited ''Primicias'' in 1927. Together with Eda Nela, she was one of the first proponents of the avant-garde in Panamanian poetry. She was one of the pioneers of the field of Sociology in Panama, together with Demetrio Porras (1898–1972) and Georgina Jiménez de López (1904–1994). She was also a pioneering researcher of Agriculture in Panama. Panamanians (; feminine ) are people identified with Panama, a country in Central America (which is the central section of the American continent), and with residential, legal, historical, or cultural connections with North America. Clara González
Clara González (1898–1990) was a Panamanian feminist, lawyer, judge, and activist. She became the first Panamanian woman to earn her Bachelor of Law Degree in 1922. The same year, she created the ''Partido Nacional Feminista'' (PNF, National Feminist Party) to campaign for women's rights and suffrage. González was central to the work of the Inter-American Commission of Women, Inter-American Commission on Women, collaborating with activists from Latin America and the United States to study the condition of women across the Americas and to recommend reforms. González remained a vital organizer for women's rights in Panama for decades and ran for political office after Panamanian women were granted voting rights in 1945.
