State Route 255 (SR 255) is a S-shaped state highway located in the North Georgia mountains section of the U.S. state of Georgia. It travels through White and Habersham counties. Route description SR 255 begins at an intersection with SR 115 (Clarkesville Highway) east of Cleveland, in White County. The route heads northeast, and crosses over Blue Creek and travels through Batesville. Farther to the east, it passes New Blue Creek Cemetery and intersects SR 384 (Duncan Bridge Road). It then crosses over Brasstown Creek shortly before it crosses over Chattahoochee River and enters Habersham County. Just after the county line, SR 255 crosses over Amys Creek and meets SR 17 (Unicoi Turnpike). The two highways share a concurrency, heading in a northwestern direction. Cleveland, Georgia
Cleveland is a city in White County, Georgia, located northeast of Atlanta and southeast of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Its population was 3,410 at the 2010 census (up from 1,907 in 2000). It is the county seat of White County. Cleveland is home to the North Georgia Zoo and Petting Farm, Farmhouse Coffee, and Babyland General Hospital, the “birthplace” of Cabbage Patch Kids dolls, as well as an adoption center for the dolls. An official alternate route is a special route in the United States that provides an alternate alignment for a highway. They are loop roads and found in many road systems in the United States including the U.S. Highway system and various state and county route systems. Moccasin Creek State Park
Moccasin Creek State Park is a state park located on the western shore of Lake Burton in Rabun County in the northeast corner of Georgia. The park features campgrounds; a fishing pier for the physically disabled, the elderly, and children; and walking trails. Even though the surrounding area is mountainous, the camping area is relatively flat. History Moccasin Creek State Park, situated in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, was established in 1963 as a simple campground, the result of a vision of then-Director of the Georgia Game and Fish Commission, Fulton Lovell. The tract was purchased for $63,415 and the park was originally run by the adjacent Lake Burton Fish Hatchery. The new camping area immediately became popular with area boaters and fishermen. The Sautee Valley Historic District comprises the southern half of the Sautee Valley, near Sautee, Georgia. Lynch Mountain is to the southeast, Grimes Nose is to the northwest, and the Nacoochee Valley is to the southwest. There are historic and prehistoric resources, mostly along the edges of the valley. Historic structures include houses, farms, stores, and other typical buildings dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Prehistoric resources include ceremonial and settlement sites and feature Nacoochee Mound, an earthwork platform mound on the banks of the Chattahoochee River.
