Georgia's 4th State Senate district is located in the southeastern part of Georgia, including all of Effingham, Bulloch, Evans, and Candler Counties, as well as part of Chatham County. It is currently represented by Billy Hickman, a Republican from Statesboro. Statesboro
Statesboro is the largest city and county seat of Bulloch County, Georgia, United States, located in the southeastern part of the state. Statesboro is home to the flagship campus of Georgia Southern University and is part of the Savannah–Hinesville–Statesboro Combined Statistical Area. As of 2018, the Statesboro Micropolitan Statistical Area, which consists of Bulloch County, had an estimated population of 74,722. The city had an estimated 2019 population of 32,954. Statesboro is the largest Micropolitan Statistical Area in Georgia. It is the largest city in the Magnolia Midlands Region. The city was chartered in 1803, starting as a small trading community providing basic essentials for surrounding cotton plantations. Jack Hill (politician)
Jack S. Hill (July 15, 1944 – April 6, 2020) was an American politician. A member of the Republican Party, he represented Georgia's 4th District in the Georgia State Senate. At the time of his death, he was the longest-serving Georgia State Senator. Personal Jack Hill was born in Reidsville, Georgia. He was a retired grocer and his wife, Ruth Ann, was an elementary school principal. Together, they had three children and seven grandchildren. Hill was a graduate of Reidsville High School and Georgia Southern University. He served in the Georgia Air National Guard for 33 years, both as a unit commander and State Inspector General. Hill died on April 6, 2020. His wife, Ruth Ann Nail Hill, died less than three weeks later on April 24, 2020.
