George Wyatt (writer)
Sir George Wyatt (1553–1624) from Allington Castle was an English sixteenth-century writer and politician. He was the first biographer of Henry VIII's second queen, Anne Boleyn.p.22, Elizabeth Norton, ''Jane Seymour:Henry VIII's True Love'' His grandfather Sir Thomas Wyatt the Elder, was a famous poet, as well as a cousin and early admirer of Anne's. He was the son of Thomas Wyatt the younger, who led the unsuccessful Wyatt's rebellion in 1554 and his wife Jane Haute. He married Jane Finch (1555–1644), the daughter of Sir Thomas Finch, in 1582. Their children included Sir Francis Wyatt, the Governor of Virginia, and Reverend Hawte Wyatt (1594–1638), who was minister at Jamestown, Virginia. George Wyatt (cricketer)
George Nevile Wyatt (25 August 1850 – 16 February 1926) was an English first-class cricket, first-class cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a roundarm bowling, roundarm right arm medium pace bowler (cricket), bowler who played mainly for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club from 1871 to 1876 and later for Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), Surrey County Cricket Club and Sussex County Cricket Club before retiring in 1886. Wyatt was born at Champaran, India. Wyatt made 72 first-class appearances, scoring 2,015 runs at 16.38 with a highest innings of 112, which was his only century, in addition to 10 half-centuries. He held 38 catches in his career and took 3 wickets at 42.33 with a best analysis of 1–4. He was club captain (cricket), captain at Sussex in the 1885 season. Written in the late 1950s and early 1960s, the Brains Benton Mysteries chronicle the adventures of young teenagers Barclay "Brains" Benton (X) and his friend James "Jimmy" Carson (Operative Three); they together form the "Benton and Carson International Detective Agency." George Henry Wyatt (usually known as George Harry Wyatt) VC (5 September 1886 – 22 January 1964) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Early life George Henry Wyatt was born on 5 September 1886 at Worcester, and enlisted into the Coldstream Guards, British Army on 23 November 1904 at Birmingham. He served with the 2nd Battalion of his regiment at home, and then with the 3rd Battalion, at that time serving in Egypt. Transferred to the Reserves on 9 January 1909, he joined the Barnsley Borough Police. Wyatt was recalled to the Army at the outbreak of the First World War on 5 August 1914.
