George Allen Underwood
George Allen Underwood (1793 – 1 November 1829, Bath) was an architect in Cheltenham. He was a pupil of Sir John Soane from 1807 to 1815 and then started his own practice in Cheltenham. He was Surveyor for Somerset, Dorset and the Dean and Chapter of Wells before moving to Bath in the 1820s. Among the buildings in Cheltenham he designed were the Montpellier Spa (1817), Sherborne Spa (1818, demolished 1938), Cheltenham Masonic Hall (1818-1823), Holy Trinity Church (1820-1822) and the Plough Hotel (before 1826, demolished 1982 to build the Regent Arcade). His other works include enlarging Beaminster Manor (1822) and rebuilding Ashwick Church (1825). George V
George V (George Frederick Ernest Albert; 3 June 1865 – 20 January 1936) was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, from 6 May 1910 until Death and state funeral of George V, his death in 1936. George Underwood (artist)
George Underwood (born 5 February 1947) is a British artist and musician. He is best known for designing album covers for numerous bands in the 1970s and his collaborations with long-term friend, singer-songwriter David Bowie. Early life and career George Underwood attended Bromley Technical High School where he developed an interest in music alongside classmates David Bowie and Peter Frampton. Underwood's and Bowie's band, George and the Dragons was short-lived due to Underwood punching Bowie in the left eye while wearing a ring on his finger, during a fight over a girl, causing paralysis in Bowie's left pupil and his distinctive mismatched appearance. The injury did not affect their friendship in the end, and Underwood went on to record one album with Bowie (in their band The King Bees) and also a solo record under the name Calvin James. George Bowker Underwood (November 4, 1884 – August 28, 1943) was an American athlete who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics. He competed for the United States in the 1904 Summer Olympics held in St Louis, United States in the 4 mile team where he won the gold medal with his teammates Arthur Newton, Paul Pilgrim Paul Henry Pilgrim (October 26, 1883 – January 8, 1958) was an American runner. He competed at the 1904, 1906 and 1908 Olympics and won three gold medals in 1904 and 1906. At the 1904 Summer Olympics, Pilgrim failed to complete the 400 m and ..., Howard Valentine and David Munson. Underwood also finished fourth in the 800 metres competition and participated in the 400 metres event where his result is unknown.
