George Paterson (footballer, Born 1914)
George Denholm Paterson (26 September 1914 – 25 December 1985) was a Scottish international footballer. Paterson started his senior career at Celtic, where he won two Scottish league championships and the Scottish Cup once. He then served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War, while playing as a guest for Leicester City, Blackpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tranmere Rovers and Arsenal. Paterson's career with Celtic came to an end after he incurred a three-month suspension for vociferously arguing with the referee (whom he felt was under the influence of alcohol) during Celtic's 1946 Victory Cup semi-final against rivals Rangers. Denny, Falkirk
Denny ( gd, Deanaidh) is a town in the Falkirk council area of Scotland. Historically in Stirlingshire, it is situated west of Falkirk, and northeast of Cumbernauld, adjacent to both the M80 and M876 motorways. At the 2011 census, Denny had a resident population of 8,300. History Denny is separated from neighbouring village Dunipace by the River Carron. A stone bridge was built over the river in 1825. Denny Town House was completed in 1931. Until the early 1980s, Denny was a centre for heavy industry, including several iron foundries, brickworks, a coal mine and paper mills. The Scotland national football team is the joint-oldest international football team, having played in the first official international match, a goalless draw on 30 November 1872 against England. Since then, the team has established a long-standing rivalry with England, particularly in the annual British Home Championship, which Scotland won 24 times outright and shared a further 17 times. Gerald Padua McAloon (13 September 1916 – 13 April 1987) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as an inside forward in the Football League for Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers. He later played for Celtic and in Northern Ireland. Career Early years An inside forward, McAloon began his career with his hometown Glasgow junior club St Francis in 1933.
