George Roscoe Davis was a Washington, DC lawyer. Biography In the late 1800s, he moved from Maine to Washington, DC to attend classes at George Washington University where in 1894 he became a charter member of the Columbian University chapter of Theta Delta Chi. That same year, George R. Davis was awarded both the Staughton Prize for excellence in the Latin language and literature and the Elton Prize for excellence in the Greek language and literature. In 1895 he also won the Ruggles Prize for Excellence in Mathematics and was the sole recipient of a Bachelor of Arts degree awarded by the university that session. After graduation George R. Davis worked as a lawyer for the Washington Pension Bureau and later for the income tax administration of the United States Treasury. In 1922, he partnered a new law firm with Marion De Vries. The 2003 Ennis shootings occurred on June 14, 2003, when 44-year-old George Harold Davis opened fire on a group of people outside a bar in downtown Ennis, in Madison County, Montana, then engaged police officers in a high-speed chase and shootout. Davis killed one man and injured six other bystanders at the bar. He was then chased by a sheriff's deputy and highway patrol officer. The chase terminated on the Idaho/Montana state border. Davis was arrested and sentenced to eleven life terms, the longest prison sentence in Montana state history. George Davis (born 1941) is an armed robber, born in Bletchley, England and active in England. He became known through a successful campaign by friends and supporters to free him from prison after his wrongful conviction in March 1975, for an armed payroll robbery at the London Electricity Board (LEB) offices in Ilford, Greater London, on 4 April 1974. The conviction was based solely on unreliable use of identification evidence, in the absence of other evidence connecting him with the crime. Following his release, Davis was jailed for two cases of armed robbery. Evidence A number of blood samples (matching different blood groups) were recovered and formed part of the prosecution case. George Russell Davis
George Russell Davis (December 13, 1861 – June 13, 1933) was an American jurist who served as an associate justice of the Arizona Territorial Supreme Court from 1897 until 1905. An attorney by trade, he was active in Republican politics and became a personal friend of William McKinley. Shortly after McKinley became President of the United States, Davis requested and received appointment to the Arizona bench. After his time as a judge in Arizona Territory, Davis moved to California where he worked as an attorney and served one term as a judge for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County.
