George Philip Barber
George Philip Barber (26 March 1863 – 7 November 1938) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. To the people of Bundaberg, he was known as "Honest George". Biography Barber was born in Oulton Broad, a suburb of Lowestoft in Suffolk, the son of George Barber Snr and his wife Susan (née Gall). He was educated in the local parish and board schools and by 1875 was working as a seaman in the Dogger Bank fishing fleet before engaging in missionary work in India. After arriving in Queensland Barber took up banana farming and was a handyman at the local meatworks and labourer at a sawmill. He was also a Petty Officer in the Royal Australian Naval Reserve for the duration of World War I. George Anthony Barber
George Anthony Barber (1802 – 20 October 1874) was an English-born educator, auditor, and sportsman who emigrated to Canada, where he became the first superintendent of Toronto's public school system and became known as ''the father of Canadian cricket''. Barber was born in 1802 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England and emigrated to Canada in 1826. Upon his arrival, he taught at the Home District grammar school in York and married Lucinda Shortiss. After teaching in for three years, he joined the Upper Canada College staff when it first opened in 1829. In his duties as collector, he was involved in a financial scandal in 1839 that forced him to put up £1,500 to cover shortfalls in the college accounts, and was forced to resign from the college as a result. The scandal, details of which are hazy, also involved Bishop John Strachan, Allan MacNab and Colonel Joseph Wells. George Franklin Barber (July 31, 1854 – February 17, 1915) was an American architect known for the house designs he marketed worldwide through mail-order catalogs. Barber was one of the most successful residential architects of the late Victorian period in the United States,Michael Tomlan, Introduction to George F. Barber's ''Victorian Cottage Architecture: An American Catalog of Designs, 1891'' (Dover Publications, 2004), pp. v-xvi. and his plans were used for houses in all 50 U.S. states, and in nations as far away as Japan and the Philippines. ''Possible Worlds'' is a play written in 1990 by John Mighton. The author, John Mighton, is a mathematician and philosopher. His plays tend to meld science, drama and math into one cohesive piece.
