Geological Survey Of South Australia
The Geological Survey of South Australia is an authority within thDepartment of Mining and Energy of the Government of South Australia that is responsible for surveying and exploration of South Australia's geological resources. The Geological Office was started in December 1882 as under the Commissioner of Crown Lands and Immigration the creation of the survey had been an issue in the local press earlier in the same year. ''The Register'', originally the ''South Australian Gazette and Colonial Register'', and later ''South Australian Register,'' was South Australia's first newspaper. It was first published in London in June 1836, moved to Adelaide in 1837, and folded into '' The Advertiser'' almost a century later in February 1931.
