Geoffrey Vernon Miller (born 18 August 1937) is a former English cricketer. Miller was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off break. He was born at Walsall, Staffordshire. Miller made his debut for Cambridgeshire in the 1981 Minor Counties Championship against Lincolnshire. From 1981 to 1986, he represented the county in 54 Minor Counties Championship matches. Miller also played 5 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches for the county between 1983 and 1986. Miller also played 3 List-A matches for Cambridgeshire, with his first coming against Warwickshire in the 1983 NatWest Trophy. His final List-A match came in the 1986 NatWest Trophy against Yorkshire. Walsall
Walsall (, or ; locally ) is a market town and administrative centre in the West Midlands County, England. Historically part of Staffordshire, it is located north-west of Birmingham, east of Wolverhampton and from Lichfield. The 1983 NatWest Trophy was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 29 June and 3 September 1983. The third NatWest Trophy competition, it was won by Somerset who defeated Kent by 24 runs in the final at Lord's. Format The seventeen first-class counties were joined by thirteen Minor Counties. This was a change from the previous versions of the competition, where only five Minor Counties were permitted to take part. In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). The 1986 NatWest Trophy was the 6th NatWest Trophy. It was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 25 June and 6 September 1986. The tournament was won by Sussex who defeated Lancashire by 7 wickets in the final at Lord's.
