Geoff Davies (bishop)
Geoffrey Francis Davies was the inaugural bishop of Umzimvubu. Born in 1941 and educated at the Universities of Cape Town and Cambridge he studied for ordination at Ripon College Cuddesdon before beginning his ecclesiastical career with a curacy at St Mary The Boltons, West Brompton. The rest of his ministry was to be spent in Africa, firstly as ''Priest in Charge'' of Serowe, at the time the largest village in Botswana and latterly South Africa . Here he rose steadily in the Church hierarchy being successively rector of Kalk Bay, ''Director of Mission'' within the Church of the Province of Southern Africa, suffragan bishop of St John’s and finally the diocesan bishop of Umzimvubu. After retiring from the diocese in 2003, he initiated the Southern African Faith Communities' Environment Institute, a multi-faith environment non-governmental organization inaugurated by Nobel Peace Prize winner, Wangari Maathai, in July 2005. Geoff Davies (footballer)
Geoffrey Peter Davies (born 1 July 1947) is an English former professional footballer who played in the United Kingdom and the United States as a midfielder. He began his career with Ellesmere Port Town and Northwich Victoria, before helping Wigan Athletic to win the Northern Premier League title in 1970–71. He joined Football League club Chester in 1972. The next year he transferred to Wrexham, before he moved to the United States to play for the Boston Minutemen in 1975. He moved on to the Chicago Sting the following year, and then returned to England to play for Port Vale and Hartlepool United. He spent 1977 in both the States and England, playing for the San Jose Earthquakes, before signing with Wimbledon. He joined the Los Angeles Skyhawks in 1978, and had a brief spell with the San Francisco Fog in 1980. He played 73 first-class cricket, first-class matches, mostly for New South Wales cricket team, New South Wales, between 1965/66 and 1971/72. Geoffrey Boisselier Davies (26 October 1892 – 26 September 1915) was an English cricketer. Davies was educated at Rossall School where he played cricket for the school 1909–12, being captain in 1912. He also played for Essex in 1912. He went up to Selwyn College, Cambridge, and played for both Cambridge University and Essex in 1913 and 1914. Geoffrey Davies (born 15 December 1942 in Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire) is an English actor. Biography The son of an accountant, Davies was educated at grammar school and studied at art college to be a commercial artist before becoming an actor. Career He played at the Harrogate and Sheffield reps before doing a two-year course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He is best known for his role as Dr. Dick Stuart-Clark in the hugely popular British television comedy series ''Doctor in the House'' (1969-70). Probe Plus was a record label based in Liverpool, England. It was founded by Geoff Davies, an enthusiastic promoter of small, unsigned bands, who describes the label as "Music to drive you to drink".De Burgh, Simon (1991) 'Probe Plus Records', ''Spiral Scratch'', Issue 12, July 1991 History The label was started in May 1981, its first release being the self-titled debut EP by local electronic band Ex Post Facto. For years the label was based in an office above the Probe Records (shop), Probe Records shop in Rainford Gardens.
