Geoff Davies (Australian Cricketer)
Geoffrey Robert Davies (born 22 July 1946) is a former Australian cricketer. He played 73 first-class cricket, first-class matches, mostly for New South Wales cricket team, New South Wales, between 1965/66 and 1971/72. Randwick is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Randwick is located 6 kilometres south-east of the Sydney central business district and is the administrative centre for the local government area of the City of Randwick. History Randwick was named after the village of Randwick, Gloucestershire, England, birthplace of Simeon Henry Pearce, who became Mayor of Randwick six times. The Lancashire League is a competitive league of local cricket clubs drawn from the small to middle-sized mill towns, mainly but not exclusively, of East Lancashire. Its real importance is probably due to its history of employing professional players of international standing to play in the League. Playfair Cricket Monthly
''Playfair Cricket Monthly'' was a monthly British cricket magazine that ran from April 1960 to April 1973, when it was absorbed by ''The Cricketer''. Its comprehensive statistical content was taken on by ''The Cricketer Quarterly''. It was edited by Gordon Ross and - until his death in 1962 - Roy Webber. The magazine took its name from the already existing ''Playfair Cricket Annual'', also edited by Ross. Neville Cardus wrote an essay each month for a number of years. Some of these were collected in book form in 1963 as ''The Playfair Cardus''. Other regular features were 'The Homes of Cricket', player profiles and a digest of match scores. It had a higher pictorial content than ''The Cricketer'' but rarely strayed beyond first-class or Test cricket. The Australian cricket team toured England in the 1968 season to play a five-match Test series against England for The Ashes. Australia retained The Ashes after the series was drawn 1-1. The Australian team played 20 first-class matches outside the test series, winning seven games, losing two and drawing the other eleven matches. East Lancashire Cricket Club
East Lancashire Cricket Club is a cricket club in the Lancashire League, which plays its home games at Alexandra Meadows in Blackburn. For the 2015 season its captain was Mark Bolton and its professional was Juan de Villiers. The club has been very successful, winning the League on 14 occasions, the Worsley Cup on 18 (more than any other club), the Inter League Club Challenge Trophy twice in its ten-year history, and has won a greater percentage of its games than any other club.
