General's House, Colombo
The General's House is the official residence of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. History The British Colonial Government of Ceylon constructed several Class “A” type quarters to house government officials along Bullers Road. These houses have a large drawing room, dining room, office room and four large bedrooms. These quarters are semi-detached, being divided by a hollow wall to prevent the passage of sound. Special attention have been given to ventilating the rooms, each house was provided with electric lights, fans, bells, modern sanitary fittings and was connected to the water-carriage system. One of these houses was used by the senior British Naval officer in Colombo, hence it was known as the “Captain’s House”. Attorney General Of Sri Lanka
The Attorney General of Sri Lanka is the Sri Lankan government's chief legal adviser, and its primary lawyer in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. The Attorney General is usually a highly respected Senior Advocate, and is appointed by the ruling government. The current Attorney General is Sanjay Rajaratnam. The president does not have any power to make orders, mandatory or otherwise, to the attorney general. He heads the Attorney General's Department which is the public prosecutor. Anton Muttukumaru
Major General Anton Muttukumaru, OBE, ED, ADC (6 July 1908 – 2001) was the first native Ceylonese to serve as the Commander of the Ceylon Army (now Sri Lankan Army), a post he held from 1955 to 1959. He also served as Ceylon's High Commissioner to Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Ambassador to Egypt. Early life and education Born to Jaffna Tamil parents Dr Philip Marian Muttukumaru and Mary Mount Carmel Alles, he and his siblings were brought up by their mother after the early death of their father. Educated at home by an English governess and then at St. Joseph's College, Colombo, he then entered Ceylon University College and in 1928, he left for Jesus College, Oxford to read Philosophy, Politics and Economics. After completing his degree, he read for the Bar and was called by Gray's Inn to become a barrister. Brigadier Sir Francis Smith Reid CBE, RA (1900–1970) was a senior officer in the British Army during the Second World War and the following years. He was the second Commander of the Ceylon Army from 1952 to 1955. Richard Udugama
Major General Deshamanya Alexander Richard Udugama, MBE (11 November 1911 – 14 May 1995) was a Sri Lankan military leader, politician and diplomat. Former Army Commander (1964–1966), he was elected as Member of Parliament for Matale from 1970 to 1977 and served as Sri Lankan Ambassador to Iraq from 1979 to 1982. Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general.
