Gemma O'Connor (camogie)
Gemma O'Connor (born 1985) is a camogie player. She is the most decorated player in the sport. Born in Cork, O'Connor won All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship medals in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018. She is a ten-time Camogie All Star award winner, six of which she received in succession: (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017). She was also a member of the Team of the Championship for 2011. Career O'Connor captained the Cork senior team in 2007, and is the holder of All-Ireland Minor and Senior Championship honours along with National League Senior and Junior medals. She represented Cork in the Féile na nGael skills in 1998 and was camogie player of the year in 2005, as well as winning one county senior camogie championship title. St Finbarr's National Hurling & Football Club or St Finbarr's Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Togher area of Cork city, County Cork, Ireland. St Finbarr's, who play in royal blue and gold jerseys, are the only club in Ireland to win All-Ireland club championships in both hurling and football. The club has won Cork County Senior Championships in every decade except the first decade of the 21st century. This record was almost upheld in 2009 when the club reached the final in the Cork County Senior Football Championship, only to lose out by a point to Clonakilty. Between 1980 and 1982, the club won three Cork County Hurling Championships in a row. This feat had not been repeated until Imokilly did so between 2017 and 2019. The GAA Hurling Under-20 All-Ireland Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Hurling Under-20 All-Ireland Championship) is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in Ireland. The championship was contested as the All-Ireland Under-21 Championship between 1964 and 2018 before changing to an under-20 age category from 2019. The final, currently held on the fourth Sunday in August, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during the summer months, and the results determine which team receives the James Nowlan Cup.
