Gebba River
The Gebba (or Geba) is a river of southwestern Ethiopia. It is a tributary of the Baro River, which is created when the Gebba joins the Birbir at latitude and longitude . The river is the planned site for the twin Gebba Hydro electric power dams. Gebba River Dam The Gebba River Dam is to be constructed near the border of Jimma and Illubabur zones of Oromia State. The project agreement was signed on Monday September 8, 2014 as a joint venture between the Ethiopian Government, through the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo), and the Chinese firms SINOHYDRO Corporation Limited and Gezhouba Group Company Limited (CGGC). Construction costs are estimated to be $583 million and take four and half years across two phases. 80% of financing will be through Exim Bank of China and the remaining 20% through the Ethiopian government. Geba River
The Geba is a river of West Africa that rises in the northernmost area of Guinea in the Fouta Djallon highlands, passes through southern Senegal, and reaches the Atlantic Ocean in Guinea-Bissau. It is about in total length. In Senegal, the river is locally known as the Kayanga. Its tributary the Colufe River joins the Geba at Bafatá. After passing by Geba town and Bambadinca, the river broadens into a wide estuary below Xime (where it is joined by the Corubal River), with a total width of about at Bissau. Baro River
The Baro River ( am, ባሮ ወንዝ) or Baro/Openo Wenz, known to the Anuak as Openo River, is a river in southwestern Ethiopia, which defines part of Ethiopian border with South Sudan. From its source in the Ethiopian Highlands it flows west for to join the Pibor River. The Baro-Pibor confluence marks the beginning of the Sobat River, a tributary of the White Nile. The Baro and its tributaries drain a watershed in size. The river's mean annual discharge at its mouth is 241 m³/s (8,510 ft³/s). Course The Baro/Openo river is created by the confluence of the Birbir and Gebba Rivers, east of Metu in the Illubabor Zone of the Oromia Region. Birbir River
The Birbir River of southwestern Ethiopia is a tributary of the Baro River, which it creates when it joins the Gebba at latitude and longitude . It is politically important because its course defines part of the boundary between the Mirab Welega and Illubabor Zones of the Oromia Region. Jimma Zone
Jimma is a zone in Oromia Region of Ethiopia. Jimma is named after former Kingdom of Jimma, which was absorbed into the former province of Kaffa in 1932. Jimma is bordered on the south by the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region, the northwest by Illubabor Zone, on the north by East Welega Zone and on the northeast by West Shewa Zone; part of the boundary with West Shewa Zone is defined by the Gibe River. The highest point in this zone is Mount Maigudo (2,386 m). Towns and cities in Jimma include Agaro, Limmu Inariya and Saqqa. The town of Jimma was separated from Jimma Zone and is a special zone now. Illubabor Zone
Illubabor ( om, Illuu Abbaa Booraa) is a zone in Oromia Region of Ethiopia. Illubabora is named for the former province Illubabor. It is bordered on the south by the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region, on the southwest by the Gambela Region, on the west by Kelem Welega Zone, on the north by West Welega Zone, and Benishangul-Gumuz Region, on the northwest by East Welega Zone, and on the east by Jimma. Towns and cities in Illubabora include Bedele, Gore and Metu.
