Bandiana
Bandiana is a Suburb of the City of Wodonga local government area in northeast Victoria, Australia. History Bandiana takes its name from the early name for the area, probably from a First Nations toponym. The hill now known as Bears Hill appears as Bandiana Range in early maps and the Street family selected the property Bandiana Park in the late 1800s. The Australian Defence Force has had a logistics and maintenance base in the area since 1942 and there was once a rail line and station servicing the area. Bandiana Military Post Office opened on 28 September 1942 and the region is still a major Australian Army logistics facility. Population In the 2016 Census, there were 615 people in Bandiana. 86.4% of people were born in Australia and 89.6% of people only spoke English at home. Wodonga (Pallanganmiddang language, Waywurru: ''Wordonga'') is a city on the Victoria (Australia), Victorian side of the border with New South Wales, north-east of Melbourne, Australia. It is located wholly within the boundaries of the City of Wodonga Local government area, LGA. Its population is approximately 35,100 and is separated from its twin city in New South Wales, Albury, by the Murray River. The Army Logistic Training Centre (ALTC) is an Australian Army training establishment that is part of Forces Command. Established on 1 December 1995, through the amalgamation of nine separate logistic, health and personnel services schools and the Army College of TAFE, ALTC is headquartered at Bandiana, Victoria, and was established in response to the need to provide more effective logistic training, which had been identified as a problem as early as 1981. ALTC's motto is "Excel with Honour". History and structure Upon formation, ALTC combined the previously separate components into "effects-based training divisions" including "integrated logistics, material support, distribution and personnel support" under a headquarters with an operations cell and a development group. The Army Museum Bandiana
The Army Museum Bandiana is dedicated to collecting, housing, displaying military equipment, weapons and vehicles associated with the Australian Army. It is the largest and most diversified military museum in Australia The museum is based within Australian Army base property, at the Gaza Ridge Barracks, near Wodonga South Bandiana, in the Australian state of Victoria. The museum houses over 150 military vehicles, as well as artillery, infantry weapons, uniforms, and militaria - including material brought back from war, as well as items retrieved from battlefields. History The museum was originally established in 1972, as the ''Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps Centre at Bandiana''. As the collection grew in size, it was moved to a large shed in 1976.
