Gatton is a rural town and locality in the Lockyer Valley Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Gatton had a population of 7,101 people. It is the administrative centre of the Lockyer Valley situated in the Lockyer Valley of South East Queensland. Recently, the rural character of the Gatton area has started to be encroached on by the suburban sprawl of metropolitan Brisbane and Ipswich in the east and Toowoomba in the west. Central railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It is the principal station on the City network and is located in the north of the Brisbane central business district. Central station is one of four inner city stations that form a core corridor through the centre of Brisbane. History The first building for Central railway station was a structure of wood and corrugated galvanised iron, and opened on 18 August 1889 as the terminus of the line when it was extended from Roma Street railway station. In 1891, the tunnel to Brunswick Street station (now Fortitude Valley) was opened so trains could run directly from Central to northern destinations. The Main Line is a railway line in South East Queensland, Australia. It was opened in a series of sections between 1865 and 1867. It commences at Roma St Station in Brisbane and extends west 161 km to Toowoomba. It is the first narrow gauge main line constructed in the world. Lockyer Valley Region
The Lockyer Valley Region is a local government area in the West Moreton region of South East Queensland, Australia, between the cities of Ipswich and Toowoomba. It was created in 2008 from a merger of the Shire of Gatton and the Shire of Laidley. It has an estimated operating budget of A$35m. History Prior to European settlement, the Lockyer Valley area was home to the Kitabul Aboriginal people. Tarampa Division, as it was then known, was created on 15 January 1880 under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879'', with its first board meeting being held on 20 February 1880. On 25 April 1888, the Laidley district broke away and separately incorporated as the Laidley Division, and later on 25 January 1890, the Forest Hill area moved from Tarampa to Laidley. The Westlander
''The Westlander'' is an Australian passenger train operated by Queensland Rail on the Main and Western lines between Brisbane and the outback town of Charleville. Background In the 1888 timetable the train from Brisbane to Roma was officially called the ''Western Mail'', with some runs extended through to Morven. With the opening of the line from Morven to Charleville on 1 March 1888 the train was again extended. Victorian Railways introduced air-conditioned trains in 1935, and Queensland Rail decided to follow suit in the late 1940s. Steel carriages were designed to travel to all parts of the system, meaning a maximum axle load of 9 tons, which was a challenge for the dining cars. New features included showers in the sleeping cars, roomettes in first class and head end power cars, especially necessary where trains may be delayed by floods or other events, as was often the case. Charleville Railway Station
Charleville railway station is a station on the Cork to Dublin Railway line. It is located a mile outside the town of Charleville mostly in North County Cork, Ireland though the border with County Limerick, Ireland crosses the track alignment diagonally, towards the northern end of the platforms. It is a small station, with three through platforms, though the third is rarely used. Although a commuter service used to operate to Charleville for several years, the service ended in 2004 as a result of poor take-up. In December 2005 services were further reduced to the station, in particular, the 21:00 services from Heuston to Cork no longer stop there. The station opened on 19 March 1849 and was closed for goods traffic on 6 September 1976. The Pulitano Group is an Australian operator of buses and coaches in Queensland and Victoria. History The Pulitano Group was formed in 2003 when the various bus interests of the Pulitano family were combined. In Victoria the Pulitanos operated Australian Coach Travel, Cranbourne Transit, Mansfield-Mount Buller Bus Lines, Northern Bus Lines and US Bus Lines, and in Queensland Park Ridge Transit and Westside Bus Company.
