Gates McFadden
Cheryl Gates McFadden (born March 2, 1949) is an American actress and choreographer. She is usually credited as Cheryl McFadden when working as a choreographer and Gates McFadden for acting work. She is best known for playing Dr. Beverly Crusher in the '' Star Trek: The Next Generation'' television series and in the four subsequent films. Early life McFadden was born in Akron, Ohio. She attended Brandeis University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (''cum laude'') in the theatre arts, before moving to Paris, where she studied theatre with actor Jacques Lecoq at his school of physical theatre. Gates is a city on the border of Linn County, Oregon, Linn and Marion County, Oregon, Marion counties in Oregon, United States. The population was 471 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. The greater part of Gates' population is in Marion County and the city is primarily under Marion County's jurisdiction. A gate or gateway is a point of entry to or from a space enclosed by walls. The word derived from old Norse "gat" meaning road or path; But other terms include ''yett and port''. The concept originally referred to the gap or hole in the wall or fence, rather than a barrier which closed it. Gates may prevent or control the entry or exit of individuals, or they may be merely decorative. The moving part or parts of a gateway may be considered "doors", as they are fixed at one side whilst opening and closing like one. A gate may have a latch that can be raised and lowered to both open a gate or prevent it from swinging. Locks are also used on gates to increase the security. Larger gates can be used for a whole building, such as a castle or fortified town. Actual doors can also be considered gates when they are used to block entry as prevalent within a gatehouse. Gates Bar-B-Q is one of two Kansas City, Missouri restaurants (along with Arthur Bryant's) that trace their roots back to Henry Perry, founder of Kansas City barbecue. Founded Gates Bar-B-Q is a Kansas City original family restaurant that started in 1946. It has grown from a single storefront at 19th and Vine to a family of six up-to-date restaurants throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. ''The Gates'' were a group of gates comprising a site-specific work of art by Bulgarian artist Christo Yavacheff and French artist Jeanne-Claude, known jointly as Christo and Jeanne-Claude. The artists installed 7,503 vinyl "gates" along of pathways in Central Park in New York City. From each gate hung a panel of deep saffron-colored nylon fabric. The exhibit ran from February 12 through February 27, 2005.
