Gary B. Kibbe
Gary Brian Kibbe (January 9, 1941 – March 9, 2020) was an American cinematographer. He was born in Los Angeles, California. Kibbe collaborated frequently with director John Carpenter, shooting the majority of the director's films since 1987's ''Prince of Darkness''. He also worked on films such as '' RoboCop 3'' and '' Double Dragon.'' Kibbe became a member of the American Society of Cinematographers in 1997. The cinematographer or director of photography (sometimes shortened to DP or DOP) is the person responsible for the photographing or recording of a film, television production, music video or other live action piece. The cinematographer is the chief of the camera and light crews working on such projects and would normally be responsible for making artistic and technical decisions related to the image and for selecting the camera, film stock, lenses, filters, etc. The study and practice of this field is referred to as cinematography. ''Vampires'' (also known as ''John Carpenter's Vampires'') is a 1998 American independent neo-Western action horror film directed and scored by John Carpenter and starring James Woods. It was adapted from the novel ''Vampire$'' by John Steakley. Woods stars as Jack Crow, the leader of a team of vampire hunters. After his parents were murdered by vampires, Crow was raised by the Catholic Church to become their "master slayer". The plot is centered on Crow's efforts to prevent a centuries-old cross from falling into the hands of Jan Valek (a reference to Valac, played by Thomas Ian Griffith), the first and most powerful of all vampires. ''Tales from the Crypt'', sometimes titled ''HBO's Tales from the Crypt'', is an American horror anthology television series that ran from June 10, 1989, to July 19, 1996, on the premium cable channel HBO for seven seasons with a total of 93 episodes. It was executive produced by Joel Silver, Richard Donner, Robert Zemeckis, Walter Hill and David Giler (the Crypt Partners). The first two seasons were produced by William Teitler. Beginning the show's third season, HBO and the Crypt Partners hired Gilbert Adler and A L Katz to take over the show.
