Garden-based Learning
Garden-based learning (GBL) encompasses programs, activities and projects in which the garden is the foundation for integrated learning, in and across disciplines, through active, engaging, real-world experiences that have personal meaning for children, youth, adults and communities in an informal outside learning setting. Garden-based learning is an instructional strategy that utilizes the garden as a teaching tool. The practice of garden-based learning is a growing global phenomenon largely seen in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. Hierbas is an aniseed-flavored Spanish liqueur served as a digestif. History The Hierbas liqueur has its roots on the Balearic Islands. Monks already living there during the Middle Ages were already cultivating the wild herbs and alcohol for medicinal use, so a strong tradition existed for the production of the liqueur. Greening is the process of transforming living environments, and also artifacts such as a space, a lifestyle or a brand image, into a more environmentally friendly version (i.e. 'greening your home' or 'greening your office'). Food security speaks to the availability of food in a country (or geography) and the ability of individuals within that country (geography) to access, afford, and source adequate foodstuffs. Community Gardening
A community garden is a piece of land gardened or cultivated by a group of people individually or collectively. Normally in community gardens, the land is divided into individual plots. Each individual gardener is responsible for their own plot and the yielding or the production of which belongs to the individual. In collective gardens the piece of land is not divided. A group of people cultivate it together and the harvest belongs to all participants.
