Ganzhou West railway station is a railway station located in Nankang District, Ganzhou, Jiangxi, China. It is one of two passenger railway stations in Ganzhou, the other being the more central Ganzhou railway station which is served by conventional trains. It has six platforms and an avoiding line in each direction. Ganzhou (), alternately romanized as Kanchow, is a prefecture-level city in the south of Jiangxi province, China, bordering Fujian to the east, Guangdong to the south, and Hunan to the west. Its administrative seat is at Zhanggong District. History Early settlement and administration In 201 CE, Emperor Gaozu of Han established a county in the territory of modern Ganzhou. In 236 CE, during the Three Kingdoms period, the was established in the area. In the early years, Han Chinese settlement and authority in the area was minimal and largely restricted to the Gan River basin. The river, a tributary of the Yangtze via Poyang Lake, provided a route of communication from the north as well as irrigation for rice farming. Ganzhou–Shenzhen high-speed railway, or Ganzhou–Shenzhen section of Beijing–Hong Kong (Taipei) corridor, Beijing–Hong Kong corridor, is a high-speed railway from Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta through northeast Guangdong province to Ganzhou in Jiangxi province. Beijing–Hong Kong (Taipei) Corridor
The Beijing–Hong Kong (Taipei) corridor is a proposed high-speed railway corridor in Greater China. It will run in a north–south direction from Beijing to Hong Kong, with a branch leading from Hefei to end at Taipei across the Taiwan Strait. It will connect the cities of Beijing, Xiong'an, Fuyang, Hefei, Jiujiang, Nanchang, Ganzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong on the main line, as well as Fuzhou and Taipei, Taiwan on the branch line. The line was announced by the Chinese government in 2016 as part of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network. Currently, high-speed services from Beijing to Hong Kong travel via the Beijing–Guangzhou high-speed railway. This corridor will create a more direct route.
