Palazzo degli Alberti (local: ''Casone degli Alberti'') is a historical building in the center of Prato, Tuscany, central Italy (2, Via Degli Alberti). It was the seat of Cassa di Risparmio di Prato (the saving bank of Prato, Cariprato, now part of the Banca Popolare di Vicenza) and was home to the former's large art collection. In 2013 it was reported that Banca Popolare di Vicenza moved all the collection to Vicenza after liquidated Cariprato. The former owner of Cariprato, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Prato, continued to use the building as headquarter. History The palace originated in the 13th century, as testified by traces of loggiati and openings (later closed) in its façade, dating from that period and made of ''pietra alberese'', a kind of Tuscan limestone. The current appearance of the façade is from later restorations, performed in the late 15th-early 16th centuries. Giovanni Battista Vanni
Biography Giovanni Battista Vanni was born in either Pisa or Florence around 1599; he studied successively under Jacopo da Empoli, Aurelio Lomi, and Matteo Rosselli, and then became a disciple of Cristofano Allori. He is better known as an engraver than as a painter. From 1624 to 1632, he lived in Rome, then returning to Florence after visiting Venice. In 1642, he etched a series of fifteen plates from Antonio Allegri, Correggio's frescoes from the cupola of Parma Cathedral which depict the Assumption of the Virgin (1526–30). He also engraved Paolo Veronese's ''Marriage at Cana''. Filippo Lippi
Filippo Lippi ( – 8 October 1469), also known as Lippo Lippi, was an Italian painter of the Quattrocento (15th century) and a Carmelite Priest. Biography Lippi was born in Florence in 1406 to Tommaso, a butcher, and his wife. He was orphaned when he was two years old and sent to live with his aunt Mona Lapaccia. Because she was too poor to rear him, she placed him in the neighboring Carmelite convent when he was eight years old. There, he started his education. In 1420 he was admitted to the community of Carmelite friars of the Priory of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Florence, taking religious vows in the Order the following year, at the age of sixteen. Giovanni Martinelli
Giovanni Martinelli (22 October 1885 – 2 February 1969) was an Italian operatic tenor. He was associated with the Italian lyric-dramatic repertory, although he performed French operatic roles to great acclaim as well. Francesco Conti (painter)
Francesco Conti (1681–1760) was an Italian painter. Biography Conti was born in Florence, Italy, and spent some time studying art in Rome. He specialized in painting religious-themed works. He studied primarily under Giovanni Maria Morandi and Carlo Maratta. Vittoria Della Rovere
Vittoria della Rovere (7 February 1622 – 5 March 1694) was Grand Duchess of Tuscany as the wife of Grand Duke Ferdinando II. She had four children with her husband, two of whom would survive infancy: the future Cosimo III, Tuscany's longest-reigning monarch, and Francesco Maria, a prince of the Church. Cesare Dandini (1 October 1596– 7 February 1657) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in his native city of Florence.
