''Gadella'' is a genus of morid cod. The species in this genus are characterised by the absence of a chin barbell, an anterior dorsal fin with 7-11 rays, a long based anal fin which has a straight profile, the outermost rays of the pelvic fin are filamentous and extend a small distance beyond the membrane. They do not have a photophore. The ''Gadella'' codlings are found around the tropical and subtropical seas around the world on the outer continental shelf to the mid continental slope. Gadella Maraldi
''Gadella maraldi'', the gadella or morid cod, is a species of fish in the family Moridae from the warmer waters of the north eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Description ''Gadella maraldi'' grow to a maximum length of . Its upper jaw has two rows of teeth, the outer row is made up of small teeth interspersed with notably large ones; the inner one only has small teeth. The anal fin originates on the anterior third of body, under the origin of anterior dorsal fin while the pectoral fins reach well past the origin of the anal fin. The filamentous ray of the pelvic fins extends slightly beyond the anal fin origin. It is generally dark in colour with a pale mouth cavity. James Erwin Böhlke
James Erwin Böhlke (1930–1982) was an American ichthyologist. From 1954 to 1982, he was curator of the Department of Ichthyology at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia (today the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University). August Bernhard Brauer
August Bernhard Brauer (3 April 186310 September 1917) was a German zoologist. Brauer was born in Oldenburg. He studied natural sciences at the Universities of Bonn, Berlin and Freiburg, obtaining his doctorate in 1895 with a thesis on the ciliate- ''Bursaria truncatella'' titled ''Bursaria truncatella unter Berücksichtigung anderer Heterotrichen und der Vorticellinen''. In 1892 he received his habilitation at the University of Marburg, where he subsequently worked as a lecturer. In 1894–95 he conducted scientific studies in the Seychelles. With other scientists he participated in the "1898–99 German Deep-Sea Expedition" aboard the steamer ''Valdivia'' under the leadership of Carl Chun (1852–1914).
