Gabriel Hernández-Rodríguez , son of Domingo Hernández and Maricruz Rodríguez, both natives of Camuy, Puerto Rico, was born on March 19, 1985, in the city of Chicago, Illinois, where he resided during his first year of life, until his mother moved to Paterson, New Jersey, where he lived until he turned 7. At that age, he moved to Camuy, where he lived during his childhood and adolescence in the Péndula sector of Barrio Santiago. In 2003, he graduated with honors from Santiago R. Palmer High School, now known as Miguel Felipe Santiago High School in Camuy. During his freshman college year, he received a scholarship from the Camuy Savings and Loan Cooperative. Camuy, Puerto Rico
Camuy () is a town and municipality of Puerto Rico, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, north of Lares and San Sebastián; east of Quebradillas; and west of Hatillo. Camuy is spread over 12 barrios and Camuy Pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). The town celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2007. The Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA; Spanish: ''LUMA'', ''AEE'') was an electric power company owned by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico responsible for electricity generation, power distribution, and power transmission on the island. Puerto Rico Mayors Federation
The mayors of Puerto Rico encompass the different mayors of the municipalities of Puerto Rico; each mayor being the highest-ranking officer of their corresponding municipality. Several laws existed that created the post of mayor in each municipality but they were all repealed in favor of a broad and encompassing law known as the Autonomous Municipalities Act of 1991. The mayors do not constitute a body, and are not required by law to do so, but they have voluntarily assembled into two organizations: * the Puerto Rico Mayors Association, which represents the mayors from the Popular Democratic Party and * the Puerto Rico Mayors Federation, which represents the mayors from the New Progressive Party. The Puerto Rico Ombudsman (In Spanish also ) is a government position created by statute in 1977 during the administration of Governor Carlos Romero Barceló to provide citizens with an office that could receive and investigate complaints regarding the proper functioning of government agencies and the level of service to the public. The Ombudsman is appointed by the Governor of Puerto Rico to a ten-year term and requires the advice and consent of both the Senate and the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico.
