Gabon At The 2016 Summer Olympics
Gabon competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was the nation's tenth appearance at the Olympics. Gabon Olympic Committee (french: Comité Olympique Gabonais) sent a total of six athletes, four men and two women, to compete in four different sports at these Games. The nation's roster was relatively smaller by nearly three quarters of its size from London 2012, where Gabon registered a team of 26 athletes. Among the sports represented by the athletes, Gabon made its Olympic debut in swimming. Among the Gabonese athletes on the team were sprinters Wilfried Bingangoye and Ruddy Zang Milama, and taekwondo fighter Anthony Obame, who established history as the nation's first ever Olympic medalist, earning the silver in the men's heavyweight category (+80 kg) four years earlier. Takanori Nagase
Takanori Nagase ( ja, 永瀬貴規; born 14 October 1993) is a Japanese judoka. Nagase's achievements include the Universiade in Kazan in 2013, the Grand Slam in Tokyo in 2013 and 2014, the All Japan Championships, the IJF Masters in Rabat and the World Judo Championships in 2015. He is currently ranked No. 2 in the world (as of 5 May 2016). Nagase's favourite technique is uchi mata and is known for his newaza. Mahama Cho
Mahama Cho (born 16 August 1989) is a taekwondo practitioner who competes in the +87 kg category. Born in the Ivory Coast, he has represented both Great Britain and France in the sport. Early life and personal life Abdoufata Cho Mahama was raised by his grandmother in the Ivory Coast; his father was abroad and his mother was unable to care for him. A practising Muslim, he attended an Arabic school in Abidjan. As a child, Cho was bullied. Cho moved to London at the age of eight, at the request of his father. Taekwondo At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's +80 Kg
The men's +80 kg competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics was held on 20 August, at the Carioca Arena 3. The medals for the competition were presented by Nicole Hoevertsz, Aruba, IOC member and the gifts were presented by Dr. Choue Chungwon, President of the World Taekwondo Federation. Competition format The main bracket consisted of a single elimination tournament, culminating in the gold medal match. The top eight athletes in each event were seeded so as not to face each other in the preliminary round. The remainder of the qualified athletes were drawn randomly on 15 August 2016. Two bronze medals were awarded at the Taekwondo competitions. A repechage was used to determine the bronze medal winners. Every competitor who lost to one of the two finalists competed in the repechage, another single-elimination competition.
