Sasson Gabai
Sasson Gabai (or Gabay; he, ששון גבאי; born ) is an Israeli actor. He is the winner of an Ophir Award, Asia Pacific Screen Award (nominated), European Film Awards and Jerusalem Film Festival in 2007 as Best Actor in the highly acclaimed Israeli film ''The Band's Visit''. Biography Gabai was born in 1947 in Baghdad, Iraq, to a Baghdadi Jewish family. During his childhood he immigrated together with his family to Israel. After serving his mandatory military service in the Israel Defense Forces, he studied theater and psychology at the Tel Aviv University. After graduating, he began playing in the Khan Theater in Michael Alfreds group. Afterwards, he played in several stage productions at the Hacameri Theater, the Be'er Sheva Theater and the Beit Lessin Theater. He is one of the permanent staff members at the Beit Lessin Theater. David Gabai
David Gabai is an American mathematician and the Hughes-Rogers Professor of Mathematics at Princeton University. Focused on low-dimensional topology and hyperbolic geometry, he is a leading researcher in those subjects. Biography David Gabai received his B.S. in mathematics from MIT in 1976 and his Ph.D. in mathematics from Princeton University in 1980. Gabai completed his doctoral dissertation, titled "Foliations and genera of links", under the supervision of William Thurston. After positions at Harvard and University of Pennsylvania, Gabai spent most of the period of 1986–2001 at Caltech, and has been at Princeton since 2001. Eliyahu "Eli" Gabai ( he, אליהו "אלי" גבאי, born 5 January 1943) is an Israeli former politician. He served as a member of the Knesset for the National Religious Party from 1996 until 1999, and again from 2006 until 2009. Biography Gabai was born in Baghdad, Iraq and emigrated with his family in 1951. They settled in Pardes Hanna and he studied at the Mikveh Israel agricultural school. He later served with the IDF and studied at Kfar HaRoeh's Bnei Akiva teachers seminary. Yisroel Meir Gabbai is a Breslover Hasid who travels the world to locate, repair and maintain Jewish cemeteries, ''kevarim'' (gravesites) and ohels of Torah notables and tzaddiks. He is the founder of Agudas Ohalei Tzadikim. Biography Gabbai's father was a native of Morocco and his mother a descendant of German Jews; they married in France, where Gabbai was born, on December 11, 1959.
