Huai'an
Huai'an (), formerly called Huaiyin () until 2001, is a prefecture-level city in the central part of Jiangsu province in East China, Eastern China. Huai'an is situated almost directly south of Lianyungang, southeast of Suqian, northwest of Yancheng, almost directly north of Yangzhou and Nanjing, and northeast of Chuzhou (Anhui). Huai'an is famous as the birthplace of Han Xin, the renowned general who helped found the Han Dynasty; Wu Cheng'en (1500–1582), the Ming Dynasty writer who authored the ''Journey to the West''; and Zhou Enlai (1898–1976), a prominent Chinese Communist Party leader and Premier of the People's Republic of China from 1949 till his death in 1976. As of the 2020 Chinese census, the municipality had 4,556,230 inhabitants (4,801,662 in 2010), of whom 2,544,767 people lived in the built-up (''or metro'') area made of 3 urban districts (all but Hongze not conurbated yet). Suqian
Suqian (, IPA: ) is a prefecture-level city in northern Jiangsu Province, China. It borders Xuzhou to the northwest, Lianyungang to the northeast, Huai'an to the south, and the province of Anhui to the west. History Suqian was said to be the site of a military grain store built when the Emperor Yuan of Jin reigned. Thus, the former Xiaxiang county where the store located was renamed Suyu (; means "prepared" or "usually prepared") in 405. Then the county was annexed by Xuzhou and renamed Suqian in 762 because the homophone "yu ()" as the given name of the Emperor Daizong of Tang was deemed to be ineffable. The county was put under the jurisdiction of Huaiyang military prefecture during the Song dynasty, then was transferred to Pizhou after Jurchen's Jin took it. Xuzhou (徐州), also known as Pengcheng (彭城) in ancient times, is a major city in northwestern Jiangsu province, China. The city, with a recorded population of 9,083,790 at the 2020 census (3,135,660 of which lived in the built-up area made of Quanshan, Gulou, Yunlong and Tongshan urban Districts and Jiawang District not being conurbated), is a national complex transport hub and an important gateway city in East China.
