G. D. Bakshi
Major General Gagan Deep Bakshi or G. D. Bakshi (born 1950) is a retired Indian Army officer. He commanded the 6 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. He is often called on news channels across India to provide views on topics related to the military and defence. Early life and education Bakshi was born in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. His father was S. P. Bakshi. He was educated at St. Aloysius Senior Secondary School, Jabalpur and University of Madras. After his schooling, he went to the National Defence Academy at Khadakwasla, Pune. Career Bakshi was commissioned in the Indian Army from IMA Dehradun in November 1971. Bakshi was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal for commanding a battalion in the Kargil War. Later, he was awarded the Sena Medal for distinguished service in commanding a battalion during counter-insurgency drives. Major General (India)
Major general is a two-star general officer rank in the Indian Army. It is the third-highest active rank in the Indian Army. A major general ranks above the one-star rank of brigadier and below the three-star rank of lieutenant general. The equivalent rank in the Indian Navy is rear admiral and in the Indian Air Force is air vice marshal. Sangram Medal
The Sangram Medal was awarded for service during the 1971/72 war with Pakistan. Eligibility for being awarded the medal was extended to all categories of personnel who served in the military, paramilitary forces, police, and civilians in service in the operational areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, or Tripura between 3 December 1971 and 20 December 1972 (both dates inclusive). Medals awarded to police and paramilitary forces were, in most cases, not officially manufactured and issued, but were, instead, made locally by independent manufacturers. Policemen could either buy them from these shops or the battalions could buy them and give them to the qualifying constables. The Special Service Medal is a military service medal of the Indian Armed Forces. The Special Service Medal is awarded under active service conditions for minor operations or operations of short duration. Clasps are awarded with the medal indicating the particular operation for which it is awarded. For subsequent operations where the clasp is approved, only the Clasp denoting the particular operation is awarded. The name of the operation's location is inscribed on the clasp's bar. The T-14 Armata ( rus, Т-14 «Армата»; industrial designation russian: Объект 148, Ob'yekt 148, Object 148), is a next-generation Russian main battle tank based on the Armata Universal Combat Platform. The Russian Army initially planned to acquire 2,300 T-14s between 2015 and 2020.
