G. Richard Bevan
George Richard Bevan (born May 5, 1959) is an American attorney and jurist who currently is the chief justice of Idaho. He previously served as an Idaho district court judge from 2003 until 2017, when he was appointed to the supreme court. Early life and education Born and raised in Twin Falls, Idaho, Bevan graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1977, and then attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business management and finance in 1984, and completed a Juris Doctor at the J. Idaho Supreme Court
The Idaho Supreme Court is the state supreme court of Idaho and is composed of the chief justice and four associate justices. The decisions of the Idaho Supreme Court are binding on all other Idaho state courts. The only court that may reverse or modify its decisions is the Supreme Court of the United States. Justices Justices are elected in non-partisan statewide elections and serve staggered six-year terms. Elections are held in the state primary, now in the spring, with run-off elections in November. The Chief Justice is selected by an election among the five justices and term length for that office is four years. The Magic Valley is a region in south-central Idaho constituting Blaine, Camas, Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, Lincoln, Minidoka, and Twin Falls counties. John R. Stegner (born November 8, 1953) is a former associate justice of the Idaho Supreme Court and former state district court judge. Early life and education Born and raised in Grangeville, Idaho, Stegner is the youngest of four sons of Charles and He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977 from Whitman College and his Juris Doctor from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1982. David Charles Nye (born October 10, 1958) is an American lawyer and jurist who is the Chief United States district judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho. He was a state court judge for Idaho's Sixth District Court from 2007 to 2017, and before that spent twenty years in private practice in Idaho.
