Gymnastikos Syllogos Larissas 1928 B.C. (Greek language, Greek: Γυμναστικός Σύλλογος Λάρισας 1928 K.A.E.), commonly known as Gymnastikos S. Larissas, G.S. Larissas, or G.S.L., is a Greek professional basketball club that is based in Larissa, Greece. The club’s colors are green, white, and blue, and its emblem is the Discobolus. The club is known for being the first professional club team of the legendary European basketball player, Vassilis Spanoulis. History Gymnastikos S. Larissas was originally founded in 1928, and it was the first basketball club of the city of Larissa, that played in the Greek basketball league system, top-tier level Greek Basket League (A1 National). Larissa Neapolis Indoor Arena is an indoor sporting arena that is located in the city of Larissa, Greece, in the district of Neapolis. The arena is used to host basketball and volleyball games. The arena is a part of the Larissa National Sports Center complex. The permanent seating capacity of the arena for basketball games is 4,000, using only the permanent upper-tier seats, and 5,500 using the retractable lower-tier bleachers. The Greek Basketball Cup or Hellenic Basketball Cup (Greek language, Greek: Κύπελλο Ελλάδος καλαθοσφαίρισης ανδρών) is the top-tier level annual pro basketball national cup competition in Greece. It is organized by the Hellenic Basketball Federation, Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.). History and format There were no official nation-wide Greek Cup competitions prior to the 1975–76 season. However, there was a precursor tournament to the Greek Cup, called the Attica State Cup, which was won by AEK Athens B.C., AEK, in the 1966–67 and 1970–71 seasons. Ifaistos Limnou BC
Ifaistos Limnou B.C. (also known as: Ifestos Limnou B.C. or Hephaestus Lemnos B.C.) (Greek: Ήφαιστος Λήμνου K.A.E.) was a Greek professional basketball club that was based on the Greek island of Lemnos, in Myrina. The club was named after the Greek god Hephaestus. History Foinix Larissas was replaced in its Greek competition by Gymnastikos S. Larissas, after the two clubs merged in 2015, thus ending Foinix's presence in Greek basketball competitions. The club played in the 3rd-tier level Greek B League during the 2015–16 season, and was promoted to the 2nd-tier level Greek A2 League, for the 2016–17 season.
