Fürth
Fürth (; East Franconian: ; yi, פיורדא, Fiurda) is a city in northern Bavaria, Germany, in the administrative division (''Regierungsbezirk'') of Middle Franconia. It is now contiguous with the larger city of Nuremberg, the centres of the two cities being only apart. Fürth is one of 23 "major centres" in Bavaria. Fürth, Nuremberg, Erlangen and some smaller towns form the "Middle Franconian Conurbation", which is one of the 11 German metropolitan regions. Fürth celebrated its thousand year anniversary in 2007, its first mention being on 1 November 1007. Geography The historic centre of the town is to the east and south of the rivers Rednitz and Pegnitz, which join to form the Regnitz to the northwest of the Old Town. To the west of the town, on the far side of the Main-Danube Canal, is the Fürth municipal forest (''Fürther Stadtwald''). Fürth (district)
Fürth is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in Bavaria, Germany. It is bounded by (from the east and clockwise) the cities of Fürth and Nuremberg, and by the districts of Roth, Ansbach, Neustadt (Aisch)-Bad Windsheim and Erlangen-Höchstadt. History In the 13th and most of the 14th century the region was a regional centre of the Hohenzollern state. The Cadolzburg (a castle west of Nuremberg) was the seat of the local rulers. The present district was established in 1972. In 2003 the administrative seat was moved from Fürth to Zirndorf. (Nonetheless, Fürth remains the official capital of the district.) Geography The district is occupied by the western Nuremberg metropolitan area. Politics The district is part of the Fürth constituency for elections to the Bundestag, currently represented by Christian Schmidt. Fürth is an electoral constituency (German: ''Wahlkreis'') represented in the Bundestag. It elects one member via first-past-the-post voting. Under the current constituency numbering system, it is designated as constituency 243. It is located in northwestern Bavaria, comprising the city of Fürth and the districts of Landkreis Fürth and Neustadt (Aisch)-Bad Windsheim. Fürth was created for the 1965 federal election. Since 2021, it has been represented by Tobias Winkler of the Christian Social Union (CSU). Geography Fürth is located in northwestern Bavaria. Fürth is a municipality and a state-recognized recreational resort (''Erholungsort'') in the Bergstraße district in Hesse, Germany. Geography Location The community lies in the UNESCO ''Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald'' on the Weschnitz, a small river that empties into Rhine near Biblis. Fürth is the northernmost and highest community in the Weschnitz valley, which stretches southwestwards to Weinheim. Gloggnitz is a mountain town in the Neunkirchen district of Lower Austria, Austria. Gloggnitz is situated in the south-western part of the Vienna Basin in Lower Austria. It is surrounded by the highest mountains in Lower Austria, Mount Rax (2007m / 6585 ft) and Mount Schneeberg (2076m / 6811 ft). The town is also a major traffic junction: Gloggnitz is situated on the main Südbahn (the important rail route between Vienna and Trieste in Italy) and the S6 motorway. Gloggnitz is famous for producing two of Austria's most distinguished Federal Presidents. Furths are defined as mountains that meet the classification criteria to be a Scottish Munro, including being over in elevation, but which are ''furth'' of (i.e. "outside" of) Scotland. They are also called Welsh Munros, Irish Munros, and English Munros respectively, or the ''three-thousanders,'' as in '' The Welsh 3000 challenge''. Some Furth definitions add a topographical prominence above , akin to a Scottish Murdo, however the official Scottish Mountaineering Club ("SMC") lists includes Furths with a prominence below this level. Furth im Wald (in Czech ''Brod nad Lesy'', resp. ''Bavorský Brod'') is a town in Bavaria, Germany, near the Czech border in the Bavarian Forest, northeast of Cham, and southwest of Domažlice. The city is known as ''Drachenstadt'' (Dragon City), a reference to Furth im Wald's annual ''Drachenstich'' (Slaying of the Dragon) play. The ''Drachenstich'', originally part of a Corpus Christi procession, was first mentioned in 1590. As one of the oldest folk plays in the German language, each year actors re-enact the legend of Saint George slaying the dragon. In 2010, the play became notable for using the world's largest walking robot, an animatronic dragon called Tradinno.
