Fót
Fót is a town in Pest county, Budapest metropolitan area, Hungary. Location Fót is about north of the edge of Budapest. The North Hungarian foothills lie to the west. The nearest settlement to the west is Dunakeszi, to the northeast are Csomád and Veresegyház, to the east is Mogyoród and Budapest is to the south. The highest point of nearby Somlyó Hill reaches above sea level. Architecture The older areas of Fót feature the notable Catholic Szeplőtelen Fogantatás (Immaculate Conception) Church, built between 1845 and 1855, and the Károlyi Palace, both designed by architect Miklós Ybl. Miklós Ybl
Miklós Ybl (6 April 1814 in Székesfehérvár – 22 January 1891 in Budapest) was one of Europe's leading architects in the mid to late nineteenth century as well as Hungary's most influential architect during his career. His most well-known work is the Hungarian State Opera House in Budapest (1875–84). Background After graduating from the Institute of Technology in Vienna, Ybl became Mihály Pollack's assistant in 1832 and worked in Henrik Koch's office between 1836 and 1840. Following this, he moved to Munich and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and then to Italy to study. After his return, he entered into partnership with the son of Mihály Pollack, Ágoston; together they refurbished the Ikervár castle of Count Lajos Batthyány. Mogyoród
Mogyoród is a small traditional village in Pest County, Hungary. The Battle of Mogyoród took place here on 14 March 1074, between Solomon, King of Hungary and his cousins Géza and Ladislaus, who were claiming rights to the throne. To commemorate the victory, László Benchmarks were installed, establishing a monastery on Klastrom mountain. Among the sights of the village is the Roman Catholic church, built between 1745 and 1749, the statue of St John of Nepomuk, carved from stone, and the Baroque parish built by the Bishop of Vác. The Hungaroring race track is located in the town, home to the Hungarian Grand Prix. Location The town is 18 km from the center of Budapest, next to the M3 freeway in the valley of the Gödöllői hills. András Stohl
Stohl András (born February 23, 1967) is a Hungarian actor. Career Stohl graduated from the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest in 1990. He became a member of the Katona József Theatre in Budapest. In 2001 he became a freelancer, after the leadership of the theater decided that his work on television was irreconcilable with the theatre's artistic concept. Ádám Madaras (born 28 December 1966) is a Hungary, Hungarian World and European champion Modern pentathlon, modern pentathlete, fencer, actor, stuntman, media entrepreneur. He participated on the Hungarian team which won a gold medal at the 1991 World Modern Pentathlon Championships in San Antonio. András Fáy
András Fáy ( sk, Andrej Fáy; 30 May 178626 July 1864) was a Hungarian author, lawyer, politician and businessman. Life He was born at Kohány (today Kochanovce, suburb of Sečovce) in the county of Zemplén, and was educated for the law at the Protestant college of Sárospatak. His volume of poems ''New Garland'' (1818) established his fame as a poet. However he won a much larger fame with his ''Mesék'' (Fables), the first edition of which appeared at Vienna in 1820. This book exhibited his powers of satire and invention. These fables, which, on account of their originality and simplicity, caused Fay to be regarded as the Hungarian Aesop, were translated into German by Petz (Raab, 1825), and partly into English by E. D. Butler, ''Hungarian Poems and Fables'' (London, 1877). Zsolt Erdei (born 31 May 1974) is a Hungarian former professional boxer who competed from 2000 to 2014. He held world championships in two weight classes, including the WBO and lineal light-heavyweight titles from 2004 to 2009 (making eleven consecutive defences against ten different opponents), and the WBC cruiserweight title from 2009 to 2010.
