Fórmula Academy Sudamericana
The Fórmula Academy Sudamericana ( pt, Fórmula Academy Sul-Americana), previously known as Fórmula 4 Sudamericana, is a Formula 4 racing class that debuted in 2014. The class uses the same chassis and engines used previously in the Formula Future Fiat. History The series was launched in April 2013. The organization bought 20 Signatech chassis with support of the Asociación Uruguaya de Volantes. The cars had their shakedown in February 2014. At the Autódromo Víctor Borrat Fabini Alessandro Salerno, Mauro Marino and Mateo Maffioly tested the car. The series first race took place at Polideportivo Ciudad de Mercedes in Uruguay on April 6, 2014. After a hiatus in 2017, the series was revived in 2018 and renamed Fórmula Academy Sudamericana. FIA Formula 4, also called FIA F4, is an open-wheel racing car category intended for junior drivers. There is no global championship, but rather individual nations or regions can host their own championships in compliance with a universal set of rules and specifications. The 2014 Formula 4 Sudamericana season was the inaugural season of the Formula 4 Sudamericana. It began on 6 April in Polideportivo “Ciudad de Mercedes” and finished on 14 December in Autódromo Ciudad de Concordia after seven rounds. Interlagos Circuit
The Autódromo José Carlos Pace, better known as Interlagos, is a motorsport circuit located in the city of São Paulo, in the neighborhood of Interlagos. It was inaugurated on 12 May 1940, by the federal intervener Adhemar de Barros. The traditional name of the circuit and of the neighborhood itself comes from the fact that it is located in a region between two large artificial lakes, Guarapiranga and Billings, which were built in the beginning of the 20th century to supply the city with water and electricity. In 1985 the circuit was renamed to honor the Formula 1 driver José Carlos Pace, who died in a plane crash in 1977. Attached to its facilities there is a Kart circuit named after Ayrton Senna. Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo is a motorsport circuit located in Termas de Río Hondo, Argentina. The circuit was opened in 2008 and underwent a complete overhaul and rebuild process in 2012, based on design by the Italian circuit designer . Racing background The circuit hosted the third round of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing season in 2014 and 2015, bringing Grand Prix motorcycle racing back to Argentina after fifteen years. In 2013, the circuit also hosted Rounds 15 and 16 of the FIA WTCC Race of Argentina of the World Touring Car Championship, and the first MotoGP and Moto2 official tests.
