Férid Boughedir (born 1944) is a Tunisian film director and screenwriter. Career Boughedir has directed five films since 1983. His film '' Caméra d'Afrique'' was screened at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival. In 1996, his film ''Un été à La Goulette'' was entered into the 46th Berlin International Film Festival. Hammam Lif
Hammam-Lif ( ar, حمام الأنف, pronounced hammam linf) is a coastal town about 20 km south-east of Tunis, the capital of Tunisia. It has been known since antiquity for its thermal springs originating in Mount Bou Kornine. History Naro, which means fire, was Hammam-Lif's Punic name. In 1883, the French captain Ernest De Prudhomme discovered in his Hammam-lif residence the first archeological ruins of an ancient synagogue that once stood in Hammam-Lif in 3rd-5th century AD. Hammam-Lif was once the home of Italian, Greek and Jewish communities, especially before the end of the French colonial period. Hammam-Lif's most interesting site is probably Dar El Bey, which was the residence of Ali II Bey, the 4th bey of Tunis. ''Twenty Years of African Cinema'' (french: Caméra d'Afrique) is a 1983 Tunisian documentary film directed by Férid Boughedir. Synopsis The film (as the title suggests) looks back at 20 years of African cinema featuring interviews with pioneering independent filmmakers such as Sembene Ousmane and Djibril Diop Mambéty overcoming obstacles (lack of funds and support) to tell authentic African stories after years of the continent being a backdrop for Westernized cinema full of depictions of its people as inhuman. Legacy It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival. ''A Summer in La Goulette'' (french: Un été à La Goulette, ar, صيف حلق الوادي, ṣayf Ḥalq el-Wādī) is a 1996 film by Tunisian director Férid Boughedir. It is a narrative of how intercommunal relations deteriorated in cosmopolitan La Goulette after the end of French rule, especially Muslim-Jewish relations affected by the Six-Day War and the rising impact of Islam on Tunisian society.
