Félix Verdejo
Félix Gabriel Verdejo Sánchez (born May 19, 1993) is a Puerto Rican professional boxer who held the WBO Latino lightweight title from 2015 to 2017. As an amateur he represented Puerto Rico at the 2012 Olympics. In May 2021, Verdejo turned himself in to police to face federal charges in the murder of his pregnant mistress of many years. Amateur career Verdejo was the winner at lightweight at the 2012 American Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament. Qualification was assured when Verdejo defeated a Mexican rival in the quarter-finals since the top-4 finishers qualified for the 2012 Olympics in his weight class. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Verdejo defeated Panamanian José Huertas in the first round with a score of 11–5. Then he defeated Tunisian Ahmed Mejri with a 16–7 score before losing to Vasyl Lomachenko of Ukraine in the quarterfinals 14–9. Verdejo was also a Panamerican Youth Champion. Tendinopathy, a type of tendon disorder that results in pain, swelling, and impaired function. The pain is typically worse with movement.
