Fuzzy Settles Down
''Fuzzy Settles Down'' is a 1944 American Western film directed by Sam Newfield. Plot Two cowboys, Fuzzy Jones and Billy Carson, catch a pair of bank robbers; and then are endowed with the reward money. In the town of Red Rock the local newspaper editor John Martin is shot in the back and killed for his opposition of local outlaws attempting to steal the townsfolk's land. Fuzzy and Billy happen to ride into town on the day that the newspaper is put up for auction, and Fuzzy buys the paper with his high bid, hoping his reward money and subsequent purchase will allow him to peacefully settle down. Fuzzy meets Martin's daughter, Edith, consoles her for her loss. They find a common ground in the aversion of lawlessness and the outlaw's actions, and Fuzzy asks Edith to join him at the paper. Sam Newfield
Sam Newfield, born Samuel Neufeld, (December 6, 1899 - November 10, 1964), also known as Sherman Scott or Peter Stewart, was an American B-movie Film director, director, one of the most prolific in American film history—he is credited with directing over 250 feature films in a career which began during the silent era and ended in 1958. In addition to his staggering feature output, he also directed one -and two-reel comedy Short film, shorts, training films, industrial films, TV episodes and pretty much anything anyone would pay him for. Because of this massive output—he would sometimes direct more than 20 films in a single year—he has been called the most prolific director of the sound era. Many of Newfield's films were made for Producers Releasing Corporation, PRC Pictures. This was a film production company headed by his brother Sigmund Neufeld. It was the first film in Producers Releasing Corporation's Billy the Kid film series where Crabbe changed his name to "Billy Carson". Plot Billy and Fuzzy are in charge of the local branch of the Pony Express. When a stagecoach line comes to town the Pony Express retains the weekly mail delivery contract whilst the stagecoach line takes freight and passengers. When the stagecoach line decides to do a daily mail service Billy and Fuzzy initially welcome the competition. ''Cattle Stampede'' is a 1943 American Producers Releasing Corporation Western film of the "Billy the Kid" series directed by Sam Newfield. Plot Pursued through Arizona by a gang of outlaws turned bounty hunters for the massive reward on Billy's head, Billy and Fuzzy are led to safety by Ed Dawson. Suspicious as to why anyone would help them, Dawson tells them he feels Billy as not as bad as he is made out to be. More importantly he needs Billy and Fuzzy to work on his cattle ranch in New Mexico which is facing cattle rustling and the murder of their cowboys.
