Futurisk
Futurisk (stylized as FUTURISK) was an American electronic electropunk group based out of Lighthouse Point, Florida, United States that recorded and performed live in the late 1970s and early 1980s in South Florida, and are believed to be the first electropop/electropunk band in the American South. They initially had two 7" vinyl releases on Clark Humphrey Records: ''The Sound of Futurism 1980/Army Now'' (1980) and ''Player Piano EP'' (1982), the latter of which was rediscovered in 2002 by LCD Soundsystem frontman and DFA Records co-founder/producer James Murphy when he happened across it in a NYC record store. Murphy subsequently released a Futurisk track, ''Push Me Pull You, Part 2'' on a DFA mix CD through the Paris fashion-house Colette in 2003, titled ''Collette No. 5'', sparking a renewed interest in Futurisk's music. Synthpop
Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. It was prefigured in the 1960s and early 1970s by the use of synthesizers in progressive rock, electronic, art rock, disco, and particularly the Krautrock of bands like Kraftwerk. It arose as a distinct genre in Japan and the United Kingdom in the post-punk era as part of the new wave movement of the late 1970s to the mid-1980s. Chris Carter (born 28 January 1953) is an English musician, best known for being a member of Throbbing Gristle and the duo Chris & Cosey, both with his longtime partner Cosey Fanni Tutti. Background Carter was born 28 January 1953 in Islington, North London and educated at Friern Barnet Grammar School. He began his career in the late 1960s working for various UK TV stations (Thames, Granada and LWT) as a sound engineer on numerous TV shows and documentaries. This gave him an invaluable grounding in audio techniques and theories. Ralf Hütter (born 20 August 1946) is a German musician and composer best known as the lead singer and keyboardist of Kraftwerk, which he founded with Florian Schneider in 1969. On May 12, 2021, Kraftwerk was announced as one of the inductees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Biography Hütter was born on 20 August 1946 in Krefeld, Germany. In 2009 he lived near Düsseldorf. Hütter also has a daughter named Elsa who also produces music. He met Florian Schneider while studying improvisation at the Robert Schumann Hochschule. He is a vegetarian.
