Matrix & Futurebound are a British drum and bass duo consisting of Jamie Quinn (Matrix) and Brendan Collins (Futurebound). Jamie Quinn, better known by his stage name Matrix, is a British drum and bass producer, DJ, and founder of record label Metro Recordings in London. Musical career 1994-2000: Career beginnings Quinn started his musical career as one half of drum and bass duo Turbosound. The duo was signed to F Project Records, an imprint of Formation Records, operated by DJ SS. As early as 1994, Quinn began to release material as Matrix. Since then, his work has appeared on numerous compilations released by various drum and bass labels. His debut LP, ''Sleepwalk'' was released in 2000 by Virus Recordings (operated by his brother). 2001-2004: Goldtrix In 2001, Quinn ventured into the house music genre as one half of Goldtrix. Tanya Lacey (born 2 March 1986) is an English recording artist, songwriter and composer. She signed to the record label Sony Music. She is best known for writing and featuring on Loick Essien's single " How We Roll" which peaked at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart. Later, Tanya supported Bruno Mars as his sole European support for The Doo-Wops & Hooligans Tour. Kevin Ford (born 1968), better known as DJ Hype, is a British jungle and drum and bass producer and DJ. Biography Hype first became involved in music as a teenager in 1982, assisting PJ and Smiley with their sound system Heatwave in East London, which evolved into Shut Up and Dance. Hype began producing in 1989, engineering and co-producing tracks (including "Exorcist" and "The Bee") for Kickin'Records, Strictly Underground and Suburban Base. UK garage producer Wookie remembers that Hype worked with The Scientist on "The Bee" to create one of the first jungle tunes to hit big, following "£10 to Get In" by Shut Up and Dance in 1989. Around this time, Hype hosted a show on the London pirate radio station Fantasy FM, and he was famed for his mixing and scratching skills. Drum and bass (also written as drum & bass or drum'n'bass and commonly abbreviated as D&B, DnB, or D'n'B) is a genre of electronic dance music characterized by fast breakbeats (typically 165–185 beats per minute) with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, samples, and synthesizers. The genre grew out of the UK's rave scene in the 1990s. The popularity of drum and bass at its commercial peak ran parallel to several other UK dance styles. A major influence was the original Jamaican dub and reggae sound that influenced jungle's bass-heavy sound. Another feature of the style is the complex syncopation of the drum tracks' breakbeat.
