Future Democratic Party
The Future Democratic Party was a pro-Lee Jae-myung political party in South Korea. History On January 23, 2020, former Democratic Party of Korea member; Chun Se-kyung left the Democratic Party of Korea and announced his will to create a new party. The party was officially founded on March 11, 2020 and officially registered with the National Election Commission on March 16, 2020. The party is made of mostly pro-Lee Jae-myung politicians; however, Lee Jae-myung himself has nothing to do with the party nor explicitly stated his support for the party. National Assembly Of South Korea
The National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, often shortened to the National Assembly in domestic English-language media, is the unicameral national legislature of South Korea. Elections to the National Assembly are held every four years. The latest legislative elections were held on 15 April 2020. The National Assembly has 300 seats, with 253 constituency seats and 47 proportional representation seats; 30 of the PR seats are assigned on additional member system, while 17 PR seats use the parallel voting method. The unicameral assembly consists of at least 200 members according to the South Korean constitution. In 1990 the assembly had 299 seats, 224 of which were directly elected from single-member districts in the general elections of April 1988. 2020 South Korean Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in South Korea on 15 April 2020. All 300 members of the National Assembly were elected, 253 from first-past-the-post constituencies and 47 from proportional party lists. They were the first elections held under a new electoral system. The two largest parties, the liberal Democratic Party and the conservative United Future Party, set up new satellite parties (also known as bloc parties) to take advantage of the revised electoral system. The reforms also lowered the voting age from 19 to 18. The Democratic Party and its satellite, the Platform Party, won a landslide victory, taking 180 of the 300 seats (60%) between them. The Democratic Party alone won 163 seats — the highest number by any party since 1960.
