Furioso-North Star
The Furioso-North Star is a horse breed developed in Hungary at the Mezőhegyes stud farm. Today it is considered a warmblood breed, noted as a breed with a sound, durable build capable of light farm work, yet with a refined appearance that reflects its Thoroughbred influence. Characteristics The Furioso breed averages in height and is predominantly Bay (horse), bay, liver Chestnut (coat), chestnut or Black (horse), black. It is a medium-heavy horse, also bred in northeast Europe for competition and harness use. Once a popular breed in neighboring Romania, the Furioso-North Star is now said to be endangered there. History There were two primary stallions that are considered foundation bloodstock, foundation sires of the breed. Furioso II
Furioso II (1965–1986) is one of the most influential sires in sport horse history. His offspring have performed well in all disciplines of show jumping, including at the Barcelona and Sydney Olympics. History Furioso II was imported in 1968 to Germany by George Vorwerk, a breeder of Oldenburg horses. His dam, Dame de Renville, produced several great horses, including Mexico, Laeken, Jexico de Parc and Heur de Bratand. He stood . James Jesus Angleton (December 9, 1917 – May 11, 1987) was chief of CIA Counterintelligence, counterintelligence for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from 1954 to 1974. His official position within the organization was Associate Deputy Director of Operations for Counterintelligence (ADDOCI). Edward Reed Whittemore, Jr. (September 11, 1919 – April 6, 2012) was an American poet, biographer, critic, literary journalist and college professor. He was appointed the sixteenth and later the twenty-eighth Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 1964, and in 1984. Biography Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Whittemore attended Phillips Academy and received a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University in 1941.
