Funkstörung
Funkstörung (sometimes stylized as Funkstorung) are an electronic music duo from Rosenheim, Germany, consisting of Michael Fakesch and Chris de Luca. History Chris de Luca and Michael Fakesch first met in 1992 at a techno party organised by Fakesch in Rosenheim. Subsequently, the two started producing tracks together. In 1999, the duo released ''Additional Productions'', a compilation album of their remixes of other artists' songs such as Björk's "All Is Full of Love", Wu-Tang Clan's "Reunited", East Flatbush Project's "Tried by 12", and Finitribe's "Mind My Make-Up". Their debut studio album, ''Appetite for Disctruction'', followed in 2000. In 2004, the duo released a studio album, ''Disconnected (Funkstörung album), Disconnected''. The music video for "Chopping Heads", directed by Keep Adding and Scott Pagano, was selected for the International Critic's Week at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. All Is Full Of Love
"All Is Full of Love" is a song by Icelandic musician Björk from her third studio album, ''Homogenic'' (1997). The lyrics were inspired by love in spring and Ragnarök of Norse mythology. Björk's original version is a trip hop ballad with Soul music, soul influences, harp, strings, and electronic beats; the version on ''Homogenic'' is a minimalist remix by Howie B, emphasising Björk's vocals. A remix by the German Intelligent dance music, IDM duo Funkstörung was released as a single in 1998. In 1999, "All Is Full of Love" was released as a single with a music video directed by Chris Cunningham. The video uses Björk's original mix, and depicts Björk as a robot being assembled in a factory, who passionately kisses another robot. The video is often cited as one of the best of all time and a milestone in computer animation; it has been displayed in art exhibitions and was on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Vice Versa (Funkstörung Album)
''Vice Versa'' is a collection of remixes done by the German IDM outfit Funkstörung and released on October 30, 2001. Also included are "Salt", a collaboration with rapper Beans, and "I Want Some Fun", a track taken from Jay Jay Johanson's Funkstörung-produced album ''Antenna''. It is the second collection of Funkstörung remixes, the first being '' Additional Productions'', released in 1999. Since Funkstörung usually rework the source material rather radically, these collections are often regarded as albums. ''Vice Versa'' was sold in a grey cardboard sleeve wrapped in thin styrofoam, with a printed paper strip around it, which makes the packaging very prone to damage. The packaging style is done as if it was inside-out; the inside is printed (while unopenable) with letters printed in obverse. Squeezing open the package allows one to see inside. Additional Productions
''Additional Productions'' is the first album-length release of the German IDM group Funkstörung, and also the first on their current label, !K7 Records. It is not strictly an album, since it only contains remixes of other artists done by Funkstörung, but since there is seldom more than parts of the vocals of the original songs left, it is often classified as an album proper nonetheless. The booklet, designed by The Designers Republic, features a complete Funkstörung corporate identity manual, including painting schemes for planes, boats and buildings. There is a very limited (100 copies) grey 180g vinyl edition of this album, which contains three additional remixes ("Galaxy" by War, Funckarma's "Spatial Convolution", and the second " All Is Full of Love" remix from ''björkmitfunkstörung''), but omits "Bust It". ''Disconnected'' is a 2004 studio album by the German IDM duo Funkstörung, released on Studio !K7. It is an official follow-up to the 2000 debut studio album, '' Appetite for Disctruction''. Critical reception John Bush of AllMusic gave the album 2.5 stars out of 5, saying, "Unfortunately, ''Disconnected'' has only occasional glimpses of the classic Funkstörung sound, and the balance of the record devolves into the style of confessional songwriting and guitar-driven arrangements that lesser electronic acts have since performed and played out." Modeselektor is a German electronic music duo consisting of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary. History The group members met in 1992 in Berlin with group member Szary performing live acid house music at illegal underground parties, under the moniker Fundamental Knowledge. The group says, "After Berlin Wall, the Wall came down, everywhere in Germany and especially East Germany there was a lot of chaos, anarchy." Scott Pagano is a Los Angeles-based video artist, filmmaker, and motion graphics designer, who constructs videos by re-mixing images of architecture, daily life, and intricate CG graphics. Pagano studied photography and graphic design at the Rhode Island School of Design and is a graduate of Brown University where he studied Modern Culture and Media. Pagano has contributed video art to film festivals around the world starting in 2002, and his music videos have been shown on MTV.
