Fukui At-large District
The is a constituency that represents Fukui Prefecture in the House of Councillors of Japan, House of Councillors in the Diet of Japan. It has two Councillors in the 242-member house. Outline The constituency represents the entire population of Fukui Prefecture. The district elects two Councillors to six-year terms, one at alternating elections held every three years. The district has 644,447 registered voters as of September 2015. Following the merger of the Tottori at-large district, Tottori and Shimane at-large district, Shimane districts into the Tottori-Shimane at-large district and the Tokushima at-large district, Tokushima and Kochi at-large district, Kochi districts into the Tokushima-Kochi at-large district in 2015, Fukui became the electorate with the smallest population, thus making it the standard for measuring malapportionment in other districts. Fukui Prefecture
is a prefecture of Japan located in the Chūbu region of Honshū. Fukui Prefecture has a population of 778,943 (1 June 2017) and has a geographic area of 4,190 km2 (1,617 sq mi). Fukui Prefecture borders Ishikawa Prefecture to the north, Gifu Prefecture to the east, Shiga Prefecture to the south, and Kyoto Prefecture to the southwest. Fukui is the capital and largest city of Fukui Prefecture, with other major cities including Sakai, Echizen, and Sabae. Fukui Prefecture is located on the Sea of Japan coast and is part of the historic Hokuriku region of Japan.
