Frunti
''Frunti'' or ''Fronto'' was an ancient territorial and administrative jurisdiction located in the central part of Italy. The name Frunti exists to this day as a specific geographical location, although in Medieval times the name referred to a larger, more expansive area of land. Frunti is located southwest of Teramo. History Frunti's significance is well documented in the works of the historian Nicholas Palma as well as in research available from the Abruzzo Regional entity DAT (Documenti dell'Abruzzo Teramo; Documents of Teramo in Abruzzo). The site which today bears the name Frunti contains is completely abandoned and consists mainly of the ruins of pre-existing houses and domesticated farm animal dwellings. Beginning at least in the year 1328, the feudal territory of Frunti (at the time more commonly referred to as "di Fronto") carried the privilege of the Forum. Valle San Giovanni
Valle San Giovanni is a small village in the province of Teramo, in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. It is a ''frazione'' of the town of Teramo. Geography The village has a population of about 350 people and lies about six miles from Teramo. The Adriatic Sea and the Gran Sasso are about 25 km away. It sits in the Tordino Valley, near the spot where two small streams, the Lete and the Fiumicello, flow into the Tordino river. Located off the main ''piazza'', Largo della Chiesa, is Via del Casale. The residents of Valle San Giovanni call themselves "Vallaroli". Adjacent to Valle San Giovanni are the nearby villages of Frondarola, Travazzano and Valle Soprana. History According to some sources the town takes its name from a powerful Teramo family with the last name "Di Valle". Teramo
Teramo (; nap, label= Abruzzese, Tèreme ) is a city and ''comune'' in the Italian region of Abruzzo, the capital of the province of Teramo. The city, from Rome, is situated between the highest mountains of the Apennines (Gran Sasso d'Italia) and the Adriatic coast. The town is located by the confluence of the Vezzola and Tordino rivers, on a hillside area where the terrain features along with the Mediterranean climate make the territory rich in vineyards and olive groves. The economy of the town is mostly based on activities connected with agriculture and commerce, as well as a sound industrial sector: textiles, foods, engineering, building materials and ceramics. Teramo can be reached from the A14 and the A24 motorways. Climate The climate is fresh-temperate. In the coolest month (January) temperatures average , and in the warmest month (July) they average . Cortino
Cortino ( Abruzzese: ') is a small town and ''comune'' in the central Italian region of Abruzzo in the Province of Teramo. It is located in the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park. The major part of the population lives in small hamlets dotting the comune. In recent years the population of Cortino has been decreasing as people have moved to larger and more developed Teramo. The Cortino communal archives were almost completely destroyed in 1943. Prior to 1816, when it was still part of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, Cortino was one of 29 mountain villages which formed the "Stato di Roseto", in what was then known as Abruzzo Ulteriore I, known today as the Province of Teramo. Administrative changes took place in 1868, after the unification of Italy, when the communal status of Valle San Giovanni was abolished.
