Frullania Subrostrata
''Frullania hodgsoniae'' is a species of liverwort in the order Porellales, native to New Zealand. The species was first described by Matt Von Konrat, Jörn Hentschel, Jochen Heinrichs, John E. Braggins and Tamás Pócs in 2010. Taxonomy ''Frullania hodgsoniae'' was originally described as '' Frullania aterrima'' var. ''lepida'' by Amy Hodgson in 1949, and later identified as ''Neohattoria rostrata'' by Rudolf M. Schuster in 1970. By 1983 the Frullania genus had been revised by Sinske Hattori, who placed this as a subspecies of ''F. aterrima''. The species was reinstated as a species in 2010 due to morphological and chemical differences from other ''Frullania'' species. A new species name was chosen that referenced Amy Hodgson; her original epithet could not be used as a different '' Frullania lepida'' already existed, and because Schuster's 1970 identification of the species had been recognised as invalid in 1989, due to Schuster citing two collections as the type spe ...

The Marchantiophyta () are a division of non-vascular land plants commonly referred to as hepatics or liverworts. Like mosses and hornworts, they have a gametophyte-dominant life cycle, in which cells of the plant carry only a single set of genetic information. It is estimated that there are about 9000 species of liverworts. Some of the more familiar species grow as a flattened leafless thallus, but most species are leafy with a form very much like a flattened moss. Leafy species can be distinguished from the apparently similar mosses on the basis of a number of features, including their single-celled rhizoids. Leafy liverworts also differ from most (but not all) mosses in that their leaves never have a costa (present in many mosses) and may bear marginal cilia (very rare in mosses). Frullania Hattorii
''Frullania hattorii'' is a species of liverwort in the order Porellales, native to Tasmania, Australia. The species was first described by Matt von Konrat and John E. Braggins in 2003. Etymology The species was named after Japanese botanist Sinske Hattori, who identified many species of Australian Frullania in the 1970s and 1980s. Genetics ''Frullania hattorii'' forms a clade with the New Zealand species '' Frullania subrostrata'', and is more distantly related to the New Zealand species ''Frullania aterrima''. Genetically, ''Frullania hattorii'' is placed within the subgenus Diastaloba I, which includes species from the Seychelles, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Sumatra. Amy Hodgson
Eliza Amy Hodgson ( Campbell, 10 October 1888 – 7 January 1983) was a New Zealand botanist who specialised in liverworts. Early life Hodgson was born in Havelock North and attended Pukahu Primary School and Napier Girls' High School. She went by her middle name Amy. Hodgson was self-educated in botany as her father refused to allow her to attend university. Botany work Hodgson collected numerous specimens and was encouraged by George Osborne King Sainsbury with whom she collected. Hodgson also collected with Kenneth Willway Allison. Hodgson published her first scientific paper at the age of 42 and went on to publish more than 30 papers thereafter. She described two new species of liverworts and nine new genera.
