Frontline Socialist Party
The Frontline Socialist Party is a communist party in Sri Lanka. It was launched on 9 April 2012 by dissident members of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna. The Frontline Socialist Party (FLSP) was launched at the First Convention held on 9 April 2012 by the dissident group of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP). The stalwarts of the party claimed that they are in an attempt to the revival of socialist struggle in Sri Lanka. Premakumar Gunaratnam
Premakumar Gunaratnam in politics, is a former Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, JVP leader and political activist in Sri Lanka who later became an Australian citizen and the current general secretary of FLSP. Early life Gunaratnam was born on 18 November 1965 to Aadheemoolam Pillai Gunaratnam from Alaveddy in Jaffna, and Valliamma Rajamany from Kegalle. George Perry Floyd Jr. (October 14, 1973 – May 25, 2020) was an African-American man who was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during an arrest made after a store clerk suspected Floyd may have used a counterfeit twenty-dollar bill, on May 25, 2020. Deshapremi Janatha Vyaparaya (abbreviated as DJV) (දේශප්රේමී ජනතා ව්යාපාරය; Patriotic People's Movement) was a militant organisation in Sri Lanka. It was widely considered to be the military branch of the Marxism–Leninism, Marxist–Leninist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and had been designated as a terrorist organisation by the Sri Lankan government. 2020 Sri Lankan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Sri Lanka on 5 August 2020 to elect 225 members to Sri Lanka's 16th Parliament. 16,263,885 people were eligible to vote in the election, 31.95% of whom were young voters. The incumbent Sri Lanka People's Freedom Alliance coalition claimed a landslide victory in the election, winning 145 seats, while Samagi Jana Balawegaya won 54 seats, Tamil National Alliance won 10 seats and National People's Power won 3 seats. 2015 Sri Lankan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Sri Lanka on 17 August 2015, ten months ahead of schedule, to elect 225 members to Sri Lanka's 15th Parliament. The United National Party (UNP) led United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG) won 106 seats, an increase of 46 since the 2010 election, but failed to secure a majority in Parliament. The United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) won 95 seats, a decline of 49.
