''Frog on a Stick'' is the debut extended play (EP) by British indie rock band The Crocketts, under the name The Crocketts 20th Century Vikings. Recorded at Al's Recording Studio in Lampeter, Ceredigion, the EP features seven tracks and was released in 1996 by Oozy Bozone Records. "Stunner" was later featured on the band's first EP with Blue Dog Records and V2 Records, '' Hello & Good Morning'', released in 1997. The Crocketts
The Crocketts were a British-Irish indie rock band from Aberystwyth. Formed in 1996, the band featured Irish vocalist Davey MacManus, English guitarist Daniel Harris, English bassist Richard Carter and Welsh drummer Owen Hopkin. The Crocketts were signed to Blue Dog Records and released two studio albums: ''We May Be Skinny & Wirey'' in 1998 and ''The Great Brain Robbery (album), The Great Brain Robbery'' in 2000. After the band split up in 2002, MacManus and Hopkin went on to form The Crimea (band), the Crimea. Blue Dog Records
Blue Dog Records was an independent London record label located in offices above the original Barfly Club (The Falcon, Camden). Started in 1997 by Nick Moore and Jeremy Ledlin it was licensed and distributed by Richard Branson’s V2 Records, and had a mostly guitar band roster of artists including The Crocketts, Daytona, Contempo, Murry the Hump, Sona Fariq and Super J Lounge. Many of the acts who released their first singles on Blue Dog were then snapped up by bigger labels, with Sona Fariq signing to Warners, Contempo signing to London, Murry the Hump signing to Beggars Banquet, and Crashland to Independiente/Sony. The label dissolved in 2000 due to funding cuts from V2 Records and the label's main artist The Crocketts transforming into The Crimea. V2 Records
V2 Records (or V2 Music; V2 being an abbreviation for Virgin 2) is a record label that was purchased by Universal Music Group in 2007 and sold to IASin 2013. In the Benelux, V2 operates separately from PIAS, as the label bought itself out from Universal in 2007. History The label was founded in 1996 by Richard Branson, five years after he sold Virgin Records to EMI. V2 management was led by the same individuals that built Branson's renowned balloon and the control position was held by a Canadian public corporation. The company was restructured after running into financial difficulties with Branson taking control and reinventing the brand. The label was owned 95% by Morgan Stanley, the chief financier of the company, and 5% by Branson.
