Frog Bayou Bridge
The Frog Bayou Bridge is a historic bridge in Crawford County, Arkansas, just south of Mountainburg. It is a single-span steel Parker through truss, which formerly carried Arkansas Highway 282 across Frog Bayou, a tributary of the Arkansas River. The bridge is now closed to traffic, and is located at the southern end of Silver Bridge Road. The bridge has a span of and a total structure length of , and rests on abutments of stone and concrete. The northern approach to the bridge also includes a stone and concrete pier. The bridge was built in 1942. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. Mountainburg, Arkansas
Mountainburg is a town in Crawford County, Arkansas, United States. It is part of the Fort Smith, Arkansas- Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census the population was 631. Mountainburg was laid out in 1883 when the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway was extended to that point. Geography Mountainburg is located along U.S. Route 71, and thrived when this road was the main route in northwest Arkansas. Since the construction of Interstate 540 (now Interstate 49) to the west, it has been a sleepier community. The city park in downtown Mountainburg has since 1980 hosted two large dinosaur models. Lake Fort Smith State Park, which is situated on the western side of the Lake Fort Smith, is located north of Mountainburg. Crawford County is a County (United States), county located in the Ozarks region of the U.S. state of Arkansas. Arkansas Highway 282 is a north–south state highway in Crawford County. The route runs north from Van Buren to Chester. The route parallels Interstate 49 for almost its entire length. Route description AR 282 begins at US 64 east of Van Buren. The route crosses I-40/I-49/ US 71 (no interchange) east of Van Buren before turning north towards Rudy. AR 282 concurs with AR 348 in Rudy before turning east to cross I-49 again. The route continues east to Dean's Market, running north briefly with US 71/AR 162/AR 348.
