Lefty Frizzell
William Orville "Lefty" Frizzell (March 31, 1928 – July 19, 1975) was an American country music singer-songwriter and honky-tonk singer. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1982. Frizzell released many songs that charted in the Top 10 of the Hot Country Songs charts. His success did not carry on into the 1960s, and after becoming an alcoholic, he died at age 47. Life and career Early life William Orville Frizzell was born the son of an oilman, the first of eight children, in Corsicana in Navarro County in North Texas, United States. During his childhood, his family moved to El Dorado in Union County in south Arkansas. As a child he was called "Sonny," but later took the name "Lefty." It was believed they called him "Lefty" because he had won a neighborhood fight; however, it turned out that this tale was a part of a fake publicity stunt set up by his label. Richard John Frizzell (born 1943) is a New Zealand artist known for his pop art paintings and prints. His work often features Kiwiana iconography combined with motifs from Māori art traditions, such as the tiki and tā moko. He is based in Auckland. Frizzell does not stay within one particular style, and often adopts unfashionable painting styles. Thus, he can be compared to artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Paul Hartigan, Ian Scott, and Andy Warhol. Frizzell's best-known work uses as its base the "Four Square man", an advertising character for the Four Square grocery chain. Frizzell is also responsible for the lithograph 'Mickey to Tiki, Tu Meke'. This has now become a best selling print in New Zealand. It portrays a cartoon 'Mickey Mouse' changing in stages to a 'tiki.' This image is used on a popular tee-shirt, released by the Christchurch Art Gallery. David Frizzell (born September 26, 1941) is an American country music singer. He is the younger brother of country musician, Lefty Frizzell. His career started in the late 1950s, but his biggest success came in the 1980s. Biography Frizzell was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, United States. He began performing in his brother's show at the age of 12. He toured with his brother throughout the 1950s and 1960s and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He signed with Columbia Records in 1970 and finally achieved solo success, placing the single "I Just Can't Help Believing" on the ''Billboard'' top-40 country chart. Frizzell appeared regularly on Buck Owens' ''All American TV Show'' during the 1970s, and recorded for Capitol Records. James Letson Frizzell (16 February 1937 – 3 July 2016) was a Scottish association football player and manager. Frizzell was appointed a patron of Oldham Athletic's supporters' trust, Trust Oldham in 2004. Playing career Frizzell began his career at Greenock Morton as a forward in 1957. Three years later, he joined Oldham Athletic, where he played 318 matches and scored 57 goals initially as a forward and then in the wing-half and full-back roles. Managerial career A managerial career was started in March 1970 when Frizzell became manager of Oldham Athletic, following a spell as a coach under Jack Rowley. At the time, the club was near the bottom of Division Four, with the distinct possibility of having to re-apply for League status. Alan Frizzell (born 14 April 1995 in Greenock) is a Scottish footballer playing with WoSFL Premiership side Kilbirnie Ladeside. He started his career with local side Greenock Morton, before turning Junior with Port Glasgow. He then had spells with Dumbarton, Largs Thistle, Clydebank, Neilston Juniors, Greenock Juniors, and Broomhill. Career Frizzell made his senior debut for Morton at the age of 17, as a substitute against Raith Rovers on 5 May 2012. John Frizzell (born 1966) is an American film and television composer. As a young boy, Frizzell sang soprano in the National Cathedral Choir, the Paris Opera Company, and the Metropolitan Opera Company. However, once he hit puberty, his voice changed. He continued his study of music at the University of Southern California and the Manhattan School of Music, but he began to focus more on the jazz guitar than voice. After he finished college, Frizzell worked with Michael Mainieri, a famous producer and became exposed to synthesis and helped Mainieri on many commercials, movies and records. Frizzell Hotsprings is a hot spring on the south bank of the Skeena River, northeast of Hotspring Point, near Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada. Description The hot spring water emerges from a series of vents, and forms a hot creek that flows to the river mudflats. There is a deep soaking tub large enough to fit several people. The water temperature in the soaking pool is 41 °C/106 °F. There is a small cabin and a hut near the soaking pool. The springs are accessible by boat only at high tide. Access is very difficult, and only experienced boaters should attempt to approach this site. Several people have died recently and in the past 10 years trying to cross the Skeena River to reach the springs.
